    Exmo Build

Hi I have an Exmo but it never needed to go through Sva or Iva, the suspension joints on mine are just covered by a shaped alloy box held on with self tappers and silicon sealed and the floor stays dry. Sorry can't help further but as I say I have no experience of the Iva.

    Pom Pom Hat

I gave up on hats and use a balaclava, handy when doing the odd bank job as well !!!!!
  4. Hi welcome to the world of Exmo ownership,I have owned mine a year and love the car. The standard fitting on the rear shocks are Sierra saloon (estates are a different fit)., but quite a few have uprated to coil-over shocks to replace the standard rear springs.I run the standard set up and I am quite happy with the handling.
  5. I have an old (unloved by many) 1600 Pinto with 2ltr.cam and Weber 32/36, it is the original engine from the build in 1996 and has done 54000 miles in the kit for three different owners, and an unknown number in the doner. It will still 0-60 in about 11 secs and pull 95mph in 5th on the flat. Anyone that knows the roads in Northumberland will know massive power is wasted up here, all you need is a well balanced car to keep up with others
  6. Don't waste your time going for one they have been withdrawn from sale, don't know why.
  7. I'm going for one tomorrow.
  8. I have done all the jobs on the car I wanted to do over the winter, new poly bushes in front suspension, repaired a crack in the floor where the rear suspension mounting bolt was bottoming out over speed humps, reset caster and tracking, cured a top end miss (float level and coil shorting on a bit of oil mist behind plastic coil cover). Took the car on a test run today and it has never gone as well or handled so well. The has never been off the road over the winter and I have been out with it at least once a week right over the winter and have loved every minute of it. All I have left to do is to respray the wings where the gel-coat has faded once the weather gets a bit warmer
  9. Great looking car,you have done an excellent job in bringing a dated looking car bang up to date, well done.

  11. I like many others have been following your build, congratulations and I hope I get to see the finished article at some of the shows.
  12. Looking good, I bet you are well pleased with that.
  13. Thanks for your thoughts,. time to get measuring I think.
  14. I fitted poly bushes to my Exmo front suspension today (Sierra control arm and tie-bar) while i am very pleased with how responsive everything feels now i was wondering if I would need the tracking reset as I didn't disturb the steering rack. It doesn't feel out but I just thought I would ask for opinions.
  15. I run a monocoque Exmo with cycle wings and it is perfectly stable at any speed, in winds and on the motorway, Check the rear ride height is higher than the front as I found that made a big difference to the stability
  16. I was wondering how it could be unfinished with a Q log book?
  17. He has been trying to sell this since before xmas it started out at £2600 and has gradually been reduced as he has had no takers, It had passed a mot on the sierra plates and was being used on the road, Could be worth a look if some-one knew that it wasn't road legal.
  18. Worth reading if you are after any 2b parts. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPAX-Shockabsorbers-pair-suitable-for-kit-cars-Robin-Hood-Locost-etc-/121259288249 Not the item for sale but the notes.
  19. The best tow car I have had is the Ford Galaxy/ VW Sharron, Seat Alhambra (they are all the same) Turbo1.9D will tow the hood no problem .

    Crunch!

Looks like you have been lucky, looking at the rear arch you may be able to bond a 2b fibreglass arch to the original exmo original inner part.
  22. Hi, I have an Exmo with tie bars made from anti roll bar, this mod has been on the car since it was built in 1996 with no problems,

    Drive Out

I have been out today in bright sunshine for a tour of the moorland roads in Northumberland, very slippy but great fun. car washed and re-polished ready for the next fine day we have.
  24. Hi Zach, I bought my kit car (1600 Exmo) as I have always wanted to build one but never had the time while I was working, now I am retired I have even less time, so a pre-built one was acquired. The joys of working on a car that I can understand what is going on and repair has a lot to do with the joys of ownership. I went for a 1600cc as I have always enjoyed driving a low powered car quickly, having rallied Minis in my youth, a long time ago. As .peter2b says you never loose that big grin you had on your first drive. alantoon
