  1. Cold and damp, but that has never worried me, just as well living in this part of the country.
  2. It's kind of lonely going out for a run without anyone else trying to keep up
  3. Whether you buy the cheap one or the facet if it stops working so does the car so you still need a spare
  4. Buy two cheap ones and mount them side by side so you always have a spare fitted.
  5. I just did a search on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Special-Offer-M6-x-20-Big-Head-Male-Threaded-Fibreglass-Bonding-Stud-Qty10/264289959843?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D8f916aeb814f4b3da53c276654a25975%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D9%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D290717725386%26itm%3D264289959843%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A828dd53c-e8d6-11ea-ae89-d6fc7caac607|parentrq%3A32e766201740a4e8698579b6ffffbfe8|iid%3A1 I haven't used them myself I just used domed allen headed bolts with load spreading washers https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l2632&_nkw=load+spreading+washer&_sacat=6030
  6. Hi Harry, some people use these "big head" studs sikaflexed onto the arch and then just a nut a washer to hold it on. It means that they are easily removed and the arch has a nice clean look.
  7. And make sure you are using the correct grade of oil, the old pinto can only use 20/50 oil anything else will splatter.
  8. I am going out tomorrow for a run in the car but I should be at home on Friday, I will send you a message on the forum with my mobile number and we will see if we can get something arranged, Alan
  9. Hi and welcome to the Club, I also have a 3a and I am not that far from you in Cramlington, Northumberland, If you need any help or advice please ask as I built mine up so have been there. It is while it is at this stage that you want to consider doing some body strengthening to avoid some of the problems that cam develop during use, and help to get it through the IVA test. I can bring mine up so see you so you can see what goes where and how which makes life much easier
  10. The light main/dip switch should have two live feeds one for the main which is wired live when ignition is on, and one for the flash which should be live when ignition is off. It sounds like one of the relays is taking its power from the "flash" circuit.
  11. I have had no bother with mine but I did look into the narrow bands in case I had problems, found these on Ebay 283411853473
  12. We all put our personality's into our cars that's why no two are the same, I think it looks stunning, but it's not what I would do.
  13. I just searched Ebay, I can't remember where I got it from.
  14. I just use the pinto pump with a pressure regulator set at 1.5 psi, , did you sort the vacuum advance on the distributor? have you altered the timing at all? Definite over fueled first step get the regulator fitted.
  15. In this busy life there are some things you just have to make time for- to put the smile back on your face.
  16. Hi, I ran a 1600 Pinto for six years, covering quite a few miles without a leaded head so I really don't think you need to worry too much about the head being damaged. Yes over time it will damage the valve seats and valves but the amount of miles these kits normally do, it's not a major problem. What you could do is pick up a spare head cheaply and keep it sitting in the garage to swap if you do get problems.
  17. I converted to electric pump about three years ago and it eventually resulted in a journey home with AA relay when the pump failed. Converted back to mechanical pump even with my bike carb -. conversion with pressure regulator and all works fine.
  18. If money was no object, I would have a constantly full tank of petrol and use the car as it should be.
  19. I would think modifying the existing pedal box would be difficult as moving the pedal further away would change the available travel, so you would have to change the pivot point tom change the ratio. I lowered the seat as far as I could and moved it as far back as possible. The best solution is a floor mounted box but at a price.
  20. I couldn't agree more, windscreen for me every time but no roof and no doors.
  21. I used a cork gasket which I made from a sheet of cork I bought from ebay, I put a very thin layer of blue Hylomar to seal the gasket-don't put any sealer thick enough to squeeze out of the join as it will react with the petrol . Another thing to watch is not to over tighten the three studs as this can distort the thin top of the tank. I did mine 5 years ago and have had no problems since.
  22. There will be no meetings in the North East until further notice, keep safe everyone, Alan
  23. I have a pair of red ones that were on my Exmo you can have them if they are any use to you, I will have to dig them out of my shed and get some photos for you , let me know before I go into the black hole of a shed. Alan
  24. That is looking really smart, look forward to some great summer runs out
  25. I voted Snap-on as the gear I bought 40 years ago is still in daily use today, I have loads of other firms gear as well but it is mainly to supplement the main kit.
