  1. Hi everyone My apologies that this has nothing to do with kit cars, but it is something I am now passionate about and I firmly believe is very relevant to many of you on this forum. Some of you will already know that just before Christmas I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had an operation just after Christmas and thankfully it was caught in time and I have just been given the all-clear. But the important thing is that I never had any symptoms and found out almost by accident. If I hadn't been proactive I could have been drinking and eating with many of you at yesterday’s meet not realising I had a terminal illness. So I now have a mission in life to try and stop anyone falling into the same trap that almost caught me. I have written a personal guide to Prostate Cancer as I understand it, hopefully more from an 'engineering' practical viewpoint than a medical one, and a detailed description of all my experiences throughout the last few months. If you are a man over 50 (fair few of those on here I think ), or you know a man over 50, please do me a big favour and read this article and if you think it is appropriate, give it as wide a distribution as you can. http://www.rmrsoft.c...ncer_and_Me.pdf Sorry if you think this is inappropriate for the forum, but if I can save just one person I'll gladly take the heat. Thanks Al
  2. Thanks to everyone who turned up and made it such a success, Ruth and I enjoyed meeting you all. We finished up with 30 attendees (I think), including 10 wives, and even though quite a few of you still have your cars SORNd we still filled the car park with 8 Hoods, a Zero and 2 Sprites (did I miss any ?). The staff were very impressed. I would take credit for the weather, but ...............
  3. Sorry you couldn't make it to the meet, we had a good turnout. Re Clutch cable, here are few pointers. I went through all this with my Superspec last year as they all suffer from regular clutch cable breakages. All described at http://www.rhocar.or...tch cable&st=0 'Steven' pointed me in the right direction with "...What you need is a QH ( QCC 1303 ) cable off a Fiat Ducato 81-86..." He was absolutely right and I got it off E-Bay. There is one going there now for £14.60. Item 261413775660 (Although this is for the standard Superspec with the Rover engine and Ford MT75 gearbox) I also followed the advice at http://www.rhocar.or...=1 and redesigned the pedal end to avoid the same thing happening again. I describe how I did it on my blog at http://the-superspec...utch-cable.html Hope that helps you out..
  4. I just warned the pub we might have a few more
  5. Good oh. More the merrier. Shall I add you to the eating list ?
  6. Actually weather forecast looks superb. Not counting chickens yet though.
  7. Yes, still on, and please do drop by. Just to confirm it is at 12:00 on Sunday 9th March (Opening time so we beat the food rush) at: The Muskham Ferry Ferry Lane North Muskham Newark NG23 6HB It's in the Family Room (turn right as you arrive at the bar) and I have booked tables for: Me & Ruth Ian & Carol Peter & Annie (dil-is-green) Tom (toms2b) Nigel & Helen (niduncan) Sean & Cheryll (boost) Peter & Anne (Pete Lee) Mick & Stella (mowerman) Steve & Tracy (hoppo) Andrew & Gill (ozz) + Tabby (age 7) Simon (simonp73) Richard (streetsy) - provisional Cheers Al

    Rover Ecu

    Great, many thanks

    Rover Ecu

Probably. It's the number on the plate attached to the ECU. You might recall I gambled on a spare ECU for a tenner. Turned out to be a busted flush as it was off the diesel version of the Rover 420 and cannot be re-programmed to eliminate the immobiliser.

    Rover Ecu

To save me removing everything off my bulkhead to access the underside of the ECU, does any Superspec owner know the serial number of the ECU ? Apparently it should be something like MKC followed by a string of numbers, Cheers Al
  11. Have you got a decent earth strap from engine body to chassis/negative side of battery ?
  12. May not help, but my SuperSpec has a push button on the right side of the passenger compartment just about level with the top of the handbrake lever when the handbrake is off. Press it and the warning light illuminates.
  13. I'll give it a week for any stragglers to sign up and then send out the instructions
  14. I've booked us in and the landlady actually recommended we arrive at 12:00, opening time. That way we will be at the front of the queue for the food and avoid the 'normal' rush at 13:00. Will that be a problem ?
  15. I am the same so I will probably be a real pain in the a*** and produce name tags for everyone And maybe take a group photo we can annotate with names.
  16. Thanks, the first time something has been simple
  17. Thanks Al, give me a good start point. Anything else that has grease nipples ?
  18. The appearance of a SuperSpec propshaft on E-Bay (Item: 301100510753) prompted the previous owner of my car to tell me I should be greasing the propshaft and other suspension/steering components. Does anyone have a greasing 'schedule' of what and when I should be doing ? Al
  19. Initial Post updated. Now 17 definites and 3 provisionals. Good turn out for a first one, thank everyone. I'll go ahead and book.
  20. All added to Initial post, looking good, might have to take over the whole pub
  21. Hi everyone After a 2-year absence the Lincolnshire 'chapter' of the RHOCar club has been resurrected. I have just taken over as Area Secretary and will be responsible for organising the meetings. Because Lincolnshire is such a large county we will probably follow 'florin metal works' idea of a roving meeting, sometimes in the north, sometimes in the middle and sometimes in the south. Our inaugural meeting will be a 'centre' one, and will be a Sunday Lunch outing to the 'Muskham Ferry' in Newark on 9th March. I visited it today and it looks ldeal, next to the River Trent (but not flooded apparently ) with a large car park, a large restaurant and a 'family room' if we fancy that. The address is The Muskham Ferry Ferry Lane North Muskham Newark NG23 6HB So far I have positive responses from : Ian & Carol Peter & Annie (dil-is-green) Tom (toms2b) Nigel & Helen (niduncan) Sean & Cheryll (boost) Peter & Anne (Pete Lee) Mick & Stella (mowerman) Steve & Tracy (hoppo) Andrew & Gill (ozz) + Tabby (age 7) Simon (simonp73) Richard (streetsy) - provisional Obviously very happy if anyone else would like to come along and join us. If so, could I ask that you let me know fairly quickly as I want to book us in soon with a rough idea of numbers to avoid losing the slot. Cheers Al
  22. Latest situation on the ECU. Had a chat with Richard Stewart today and he confirmed all the Superspec ECUs were sent away to be modified. So I would have to send mine away. However, I have found a chap on the RoverTech forum who produces a special module programmed to fool the immobiliser and make the ECU compatible with the Superspec. So at £10 for the ECU and £60 for the module I should have a full working spare ECU. Happy bunny
