  1. Hi everyone After a 2-year absence the Lincolnshire 'chapter' of the RHOCar club has been resurrected. I have just taken over as Area Secretary and will be responsible for organising the meetings. Because Lincolnshire is such a large county we will probably follow 'florin metal works' idea of a roving meeting, sometimes in the north, sometimes in the middle and sometimes in the south. Our inaugural meeting will be a 'centre' one, and will be a Sunday Lunch outing to the 'Muskham Ferry' in Newark on 9th March. I visited it today and it looks ldeal, next to the River Trent (but not flooded apparently ) with a large car park, a large restaurant and a 'family room' if we fancy that. The address is The Muskham Ferry Ferry Lane North Muskham Newark NG23 6HB So far I have positive responses from : Ian & Carol Peter & Annie (dil-is-green) Tom (toms2b) Nigel & Helen (niduncan) Sean & Cheryll (boost) Peter & Anne (Pete Lee) Mick & Stella (mowerman) Steve & Tracy (hoppo) Andrew & Gill (ozz) + Tabby (age 7) Simon (simonp73) Richard (streetsy) - provisional Obviously very happy if anyone else would like to come along and join us. If so, could I ask that you let me know fairly quickly as I want to book us in soon with a rough idea of numbers to avoid losing the slot. Cheers Al
  2. Latest situation on the ECU. Had a chat with Richard Stewart today and he confirmed all the Superspec ECUs were sent away to be modified. So I would have to send mine away. However, I have found a chap on the RoverTech forum who produces a special module programmed to fool the immobiliser and make the ECU compatible with the Superspec. So at £10 for the ECU and £60 for the module I should have a full working spare ECU. Happy bunny
  3. Fair enough. Could let us know the timings nearer the date ?
  4. It seems Richard Stewart, the original 'Mr Robin Hood', has 'found' 10 complete sets of Superspec body panels (4 yellow wings, a yellow nosecone and the 5-piece plastic covers for the rear end) in his 'lockup'. He is drip feeding them onto E-Bay at £200/set (Item: 301097270356 is the latest). I have just grabbed the first set and will be picking them up from Nottingham tomorrow. I will report back on any other Superspec-specific parts he still has in stock. I would have thought this is a unique opportunity to pick up a spare set at a good price. I doubt there are any other sets lying around. Al
  5. Will we need application forms if we just rock up with the kit car for a few hours on one of the days and park at the RHOCar stand ?
  6. I picked up the complete set of GRP and CF body panels for the Superspec. Hope I never have to use them
  7. Thanks. Nothing is simple is it ?
  8. Next spare part on my list is the lower Universal Joint at the bottom of the steering column as it has some play in it and I suspect it will fail at the next MOT. I can see various ones for sale, including one from Kit Spares, but they have different fittings. Some have 'Escort Standard', some are 9/16 splines for both ends, some have 3/4 splines and the Kit Spares one has 14mm/36 spline and one end and 17mm hex for the other end. I have also seen posts here saying that the column actually has a plain end and the splined UV joint is simply jammed on and another post that had a plain end on the joint. Most confusing I assume the Superspec uses the standard Sierra column and steering rack like all the others ? Anyone have a clue what the specification should be ? Thanks
  9. Yes I was going to repair it more as an experiment than anything else to see how it worked and make the car MOT capable. I will almost certainly get a new set. E-Bay item 111267176166 looks a good bet, but so far they are not replying to messages (although the picture shows blue they don't appear to offer it as an option) so not sure.

    What's This

Yes, looks exactly like mine. Previous owner had the car towed in after hitting a pot hole and engine stopped when he didn't realise what the switch was for So he showed me how to reset it.
  11. Thanks for all the replies. I can get a touch-up pot of Eclipse Blue for about £3 so if it doesn't match it won't be the end of the world.
  12. I'm having to repair a damaged cycle wing (Unexpected departure into a hedge ) The GRP repair seems to be going well, but obviously will then need painting. To save me having to use trial and error or respraying both wings. does anyone know if the 'Blue' used is a standard off-the-shelf colour ?

    Don't forget the dog
  14. OK, thanks for that. Need to take them out I guess
  15. No, very low mileage at the moment (car has only 7000 and I am doing about 2000/year), so maybe only stock up on front ones ? Could still do with a part number ?
  16. Still picking up spare parts to 'future-proof' my Superspec. Still thinking of brake shoes. Are they standard Sierra parts ? Anyone know the exact part number to save me buying the wrong ones ?
  17. OK, that makes sense. Still don't understand why others are seeing it in their News Feed and I can't.
  18. Everything I read says there should be a 'Join Group' button on the page, but I can find no trace of one. Guess I'll have to wait until someone invites me in
  19. Nope. If I go there manually the 'Like' and 'Following' boxes are ticked but it is not included in my News feed. I'm sure when I joined the 'Kit Car Owners Group' I had to specifically invited ?
  20. How do we join the Group ? I'm not seeing a 'Join Group' button
  21. I had the same problem, but based on advice in the forum I replaced the clutch cable and redesigned the connection and it is now fine and very easy to operate. See http://the-superspec-journey.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/the-clutch-cable.html I am also going to try fixing a weak spring between the clutch arm and bell housing to keep it under tension as I understand that was a standard fit on the Escort when it used that gearbox. What fun
  22. Thanks, very useful to know. Although on the wiring diagram I found (http://the-superspec...t-services.html) the Immobiliiser is Pin 13 (Pin 17 is the 'knock' sensor) ? Good scheme, one for the future, when I look at the thrust bearing clatter
