  1. Can anyone help with what clutch cable to use on my 2b, gearbox is a ford type 9? Stripped the original down and it's a bit of a bodge job. Hoping to get the new engine and gearbox in this weekend!
  2. Just wanted to check, mind at rest! Thanks
  3. I think the 25 years worth of gunk i just cleaned off, is now all over me! Will leave it as is then!! Having the prop shaft looked over to make sure everything is alright, make sure the UJ's are in good condition. The guy that originally built the car i swear must of had shares in cable ties, the things are all over the place! So mid way through a strip down, paint and rebuild. Cheers for the replies. Simon
  4. Hi, I've just dropped the gearbox out - working fine, no grinding issues or noises. I imagine it's probably done 100 odd thousand miles so i'd like to give it a little spring clean! How easy of a job is it to change the main bearing, there is a bit of play on the main shaft? Type 9 box by the way. Also a new set of gaskets and seals wouldn't go a miss? Is there anything else, whilst it's out i could or anyone would suggest doing on it? And are these jobs easy enough to carry out, i don't want to start stripping the whole thing down. Help always appreciated. Thanks! Simon

    Cam Timing

My mind has been boggled over the past couple of days!! After a long stressful weekend in the garage, I've finally got my head bolted down!! I've got a fr33 cam and some dinner plate sized valves, after the head going on and off about 6 times, plasticine in out to check valve clearances it seems to be fine, one question i do have is when i was taking the head off, i marked the belt and the pulley to make sure the teeth matched up, but, after turning the engine over a couple of times the marks worked themselves apart - is this down to pulley sizes, i've got a quaife cam pulley and the rest are standard? Have i got something i need to be more concerned about or is this normal?
  6. I've just put some ARP bolts in at 35lbs (following the haynes bible) but I've read somewhere else 40...is 35 ok?
  7. So i was missing the cover plate from this pulley, contacted Quaife - very helpful and great customer service - the cover is on it's way to my house now for a reasonable price of £11! Happy customer!

    Aaaaahhhhh

Missed my wiring loom yesterday as well, try again today!!
  9. Bought on ebay thinking it would fit the Pinto Cam - oh how wrong was I! In good condition - will upload picture if need be. I paid £40+pp...
  10. As title, either one would be great! Will going on a Pinto with kcfr33 installed.
  11. I'm lookig to get rid of the sierra pedals as quickly as I can!! Everytime I press hard on the brake pedal, my foot catches underneath the accelerator and lifts the pedal up. The previous owner bodged up the existing, moved the accelerator to the right and welded it back with only half attached. Just wondering what other people have done? Where have your pedal boxes come from? Power bulge could be an option, but would like to stay clear if I can. I don't have unusually wide feet either!
  12. What's people thoughts on a bike exhaust can? Will it have a big enough impact on the flow for me not use one? Has anyone fitted one?

    New Cam...

I shouldn't have to feel lucky, I've spent about £1500 upgrading my engine, and a £200 Cam could of buggered it all! There would of been no chance of any compensation on my behalf after i installed the thing, they would have put it down to me installing it wrong! Dodgy batch of material. It's in the middle of a lobe, not a weak spot!! They've sent a new one, but i'm scared to even use it!!
  14. When i bought the car a few months back, the guy gave me a box of spares. I only got round to having a look at exactly what was in there, it included some lifting eyes, old shocks, ht leads etc etc and this pulley... it doesn't have any markings apart from the A and R, it's obviously adjustable. Was just curious to what make, how much etc... Ta!

    New Cam...

Yep, the crack was straight through a lobe. The packaging was fine, no sign of any throwing around! I've contacted Burton, been very helpful indeed, but suggested it wasn't down to the postage, but due to the material itself. I dare to think what would of happened if that broke whilst running!!!

    New Cam...

Got this delivered today! Can't wait to get that running... It is supposed to be in 2... riight... Anyone seen that before... brand new Kcfr33! Will be going straight back to Burton - if they want it!
  17. Nice, thanks Pete! I ordered a loom from them this afternoon. Emailed my requirements and they are making one up for me. Hoping for delivery sometime this week to fit over the weekend!
  18. After a nice set of TIM gauges!
  19. Has anyone got any experience with these looms? Anyone used them before? Cheers
  20. I would appreciate one also if at all possible
  21. I may be interested considering my last post and people's suggestions! I will have a better idea tomorrow, i'll see if i can salvage any of the existing loom first! Definitely interested though. Cheers
