  15. Took them all out but they are all very dirty with oil :-(
  16. Will try that just sitting waiting for the engine to cool. Did put all the old leads back on and seemed worse.
  17. Patience, patience and patience. Lots of WD40, hot air and a very big steel bar and lots of patience.... More WD40 and more waiting... More WD40 and waiting.. Finally 4 plugs out and new ones in with a drop of grease. We ave managed to remove the old ballast points ignition and put in new sparks, HT leads, ignition coil and change the distributor to a non point system, whilst tracking down an electrical fault and renewing part of the wiring loom. Crocodile smile fitted back on and a quick trip around the block to make sure it's running ok.......! Now the temperature sensor for the fan has packed up ........I will just bypass it with a switch for now (done). Just needs a good tune up and new temperature sensor and it should be ready for Hollowell Thank to up the help today....Dino & Nikki.
  18. Any hints on removal of sparks without snapping them. Just tried removing them and they seem seized (won't budge). Car has been sitting in a garage for 2 years and it needs a good service.
  19. It's Alive...! I just needed to find the correct TDC...which was covered in oil. (oh and a little self confidence). Manually cranked engine around to the TDC and went thru posting 3 in order. Engine fired up first time, no back firing or stuttering. Just need to fine tune it and enjoy the sun. Thank you everybody for you input and enjoy the rest of the day. Next time any of you are around Brum, give us a shout and pop in for a cuppa Much appreciated Dino & Nikki
  20. Woohoo....Thanks for all the help! Battery charged. Breakfast in belly. Large coffee to kick off the day. Time to enter the garage and begin distributor surgery. I will be back later with an update either crying or rejoicing....wish us luck..
  21. Tomorrow is our only chance of fixing this before the trip to Hollowell. So hope to get as much help this weekend or we lose the chance of taking the car to the event
  22. Doesn't seem to want to play ball when I try rotating it. It goes from just turning over and over again (and running battery down), to one position where the car tries to fire and backfires. But never actually starts.
