  1. Well spoke to Europarts and I can take them down to my local store today for a refund, great news. Think I will purchase a pair of these http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=13593 as nelmo did. Happy with that
  2. Bugger, just spoke to brakes international and they *did* have four pairs in stock. But, someone bought all of them last week...doh! The search continues lol
  3. Perfect, thanks guys I'll see how I get on. At least if I can't source them I can send the ones I have back to europarts
  4. Doh! Wish I had seen them before I bought the Euro parts one. I wonder if I am better off asking for a refund from europarts, not sure what there policy is mind! I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the carriers alone...
  5. I should say, I have already got the caliper mounting brackets from Kitspares...
  6. Hi everyone! I've just received a whole bunch of goodies for my GBS Zero GT and was hoping to get the rear brakes and suspension sorted this weekend, alas I have overlooked something. It seems the Calipers I ordered from europarts (http://www.eurocarpa...06e9ac42) dont come with carriers. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of rear calliper carriers from? I have searched the forum and tried a couple of the reccomended suppliers and both have come back to say they dont stock them. Ebay is fruitless to. Will any from another vehicle fit, e.g Focus, Fiesta or??? I'm a bit stuck at the moment. Cheers, Danny
  7. Perfect, thanks all that gives me confidence. I assumed all would be OK as they were supplied like that but always good to ask
  8. Wondering - I've checked the part numbers for my drive shafts and they are definitely left and right hand. They both came in separate boxes, each with their own hub nut. I was expecting one of them to be left hand thread, but they are both "normal" e.g clockwise to tighten. Daft question but is this OK? I am assuming it is, as this is how they come, but I want to be sure as the haynes says it should be reverse thread on the passenger side. Also, the beating kit I used comes with new boots which are normal and reverse thread, again suggesting that's the norm on Sierras. Thanks! Daniel
  9. Cheers, I will definately have fun tomorrow evening! Yes the diff was fully refurbed including new selas, ill take care not to disturb them in a hurry.
  10. I feel stupid now. Been out for Sunday tea but had a read after you mentioned they were comprerssable and guess what? They only bloody compress each end, I can't believe we didn't spot it/try it earlier. The thing is everything's so expensive I'm being too gentle. I've not tried fitting again as its late, but I am certain they will now fit. It also makes perfect sense they would be like this! No such thing as a stupid question right? I'm learning lots, that's what it's all about Thanks for your help.
  11. Interesting. Thanks and that gives me hope, I definately have two different sizes.. The only thing that makes me wonder is the age range on the description is "1982 > 1993" I just assumed they were all the same for that time period. I'll check to see if they are compressable too. To compress them do you need to take off the CV boots and adjust? Sorry if that sounds dumb...
  12. Cheers, I think I am confusing things and asking too many questions. To be clear, I have purchased the push fit diff from GBS, I also have the push fit driveshafts from ebay and a pair of hubs/hub carriers from a sierra. I have: - Offside driveshaft http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141023774201 - Nearside driveshalft http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130955392057 - Diff from GBS http://www.kitspares...&product_id=892 - Pair of hubs and carriers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281340642611 The diff is fitted but when I tried the driveshafts they arent the right length, certainly one of them is far too long. The shorter seems to be correct but I am not 100% sure. I need to know what length each drive shaft should be? That way tomorrow I can speak to the supplier and ensure I get the correct ones. If someone could let me know what length they should be that would be great because I can get them swapped out tomorrow.
  13. Definately have the wrong drive shafts, theres no way they are the correct length. Please can someone in the know let me know the required lenghts for both? Hopefully tomorrow I can arrange to get the swapped out and it wont cost me more than postage.
  14. Hmmm. So each side should be different thread as expected, the thing is I've searched and the part numbers each match so one says Nearside and one Offside (FO129RN is rear right, FO129LN rear left).
  15. I went with the driveshafts off ebay and have had problems today, one doesnt appear to be the right length. I purchased the "FORD SIERRA 2.0 PETROL DRIVESHAFT OFF/SIDE & CV JOINT 1982>1993" and also near side, but I am confused. Am I right in thinking the thread should be different on each end, i.e I need a left and right hand hub nut? The reason I ask is I purchased a bearing replacement kit for my hubs and they come with a left and right nut which has different thread. Each of the drivehsafts I have are threaded the same so I am not sure if I have been sent the wrong part. Does anyone know what length each driveshaft should be so I can measure? I know one should be shorter than the other, but the longest of the two is too long.
  16. Wow, Richard you are a star! That's exactly what I am talking about, thanks! BTW - I've been reading your blog almost daily for the last few weeks, it's really good and very useful. Thanks again.
  17. Hi, I have a pair of Sierra rear hubs and carriers. How are these attached to the GBS supplied carriers, do I need flange bolts or will normal hex do? I am guessing flange, but what size? M10 40mm, what have other people done? Cheers!
  18. Thanks Paul, at the moment I dont have anything purchased and your advice is much appreciated. The only reason I want discs is because I think they look better, but if its a faff about then I will stick with drums as that sounds easier. I am trying to purchase everything new for peace of mind but more importantly I am wanting a new reg number, not age related or Q, so ebay for drive shafts, drum brakes and then the reconned push fit diff from GBS sounds like a plan to me.
  19. Hi, I have found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SIERRA-2-0-PETROL-DRIVESHAFT-NEAR-SIDE-CV-JOINT-1982-1993-/130955392057?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e7d8cb439 I am looking at getting a reconned diff from GBS (which I beleive is the "push" type, cant remember the technical term but the driveshafts are pushed into place rather than attached). Two questions from me, will these fit my Zero and I notice these are for Drum brakes, I want disks at the rear also, do I need different shafts for disks or a conversion kit of some kind? Thanks! p.s - spent yesterday fitting my pedals and finishing off my brake lines, I've only just started but I'm loving it!
  20. Thanks mdav1970, hopefully this one will fit. Do you know if the sensor (I am assuming?) on the top comes with the resevoir or if its part of the wiring loom?
  21. Hi, I got a Sierra Cylinder from GBS and have been trying to source a resevoir (!!). Finally found one from a B reg Sierra 2.0, pretty sure it will fit but before I send the cash is there anything specific I need to ask for, e.g the sensor on top? Or is it one unit? Hopefully it will fit as well! Cheers, Danny
  22. Thanks everyone, I think I'll buy a couple of mixed packs and go from there.
  23. Thanks for all the replies, lots of useful info. Looks like I was right about the 8.8 - didnt know about the difference between bolts and set screws, I do now Does anyone have any idea on Quantaties and types, e.g but 50 x 50mm M8? At the moment I have no idea what quantity and length of bolts I need which is frustrating, I dont want to waste money on ones I wont use. Thanks
  24. Hi, Recently purchased my starter kit and I'm cracking on with the build - enjoying and learning lots. I've searched but cant find the answer to this so here goes... Does anyone know what bolts I need for my build, or what would be a good quantity to order? I see there are mixed bags here and I am going to order a pack: http://www.namrick.co.uk/acatalog/Home_Mixed_Packs__48.html But I am not sure of the rest. Roughly does anyone have any ideas of quantities? I have the "bag of nuts and bolts" which comes with the kit but from experience, what else? e.g 20 x M6 10mm 8.8 HT 100 x M8 30mm 8.8 HT 50 x M10 50mm 8.8 HT I dont want to order loads of one size which I am not going to use and not enough of the other. I've ordered a selection of M6/8/10 bolts and nylon nuts from screwfix which are stainless and I know I shouldnt be using those for anything which is important/high stress but I am not sure what else to order. Thanks.
