Hello all jeez-o! I thought only a couple of years had past since I’d been in the garage and on the forum. A redundancy, career change, retraining, house renovations and a whole host of other qualifications for means that I am now getting back in the garage properly after 4 and a bit years! This week I have made two tank straps out of the old Sierra strap. Really chuffed I'll upload pics of the straps in situ this weekend. Got the fuel pump fitted I need to get on with brake lines and fuel lines this weekend. I need to fit my callipers too. Oh before I go. I promised a pic of my new wheels. The ford ones went - although I liked them the work involved to get them to fit was all a bit involved. Can't wait to be rolling on these! Ah nearly forgot. I have made a mock up screen (out of wood first) so I can drill and tap frames and not 'hurt' anything. Can't wait to get out this weekend

Well! I seem to have been away for an eternity! Hello again all! Got the rear subframe and suspension fitted back in early summer and managed to get the Diff fitted before taking a break. This turned out to be 12 weeks or so - ouch. Where did that time go... With half term looming and me taking a week off to kick start the 2B again i started to do some preparatory work - finally stripped the block to (hopefully) sort and source the oil leak that is clearly present (or has been). I have stripped the engine down and changed all seals before giving the block etc an honest sympathetic spruce up! oh i made my own flywheel locking tool! I went and got me some new wheels - i am so chuffed with them. Lots of jiggery pokery making sure i had ordered the right ones (size etc). Started to fabricate an adjuster bar for my handbrake cables and this is it in situ with my modified Mini handbrake lever. I now have a rolling chassis again - slowly (some might say very slowly!!!) i am freeing up more work space in my garage. I can now get her outside and use my garage more like a workshop now. My head is being converted to unleaded and should be back in a couple of weeks all being well. I can now set about fitting brake lines, fully lines and wiring loom and hopefully will get out a couple of evenings this week! ta ta for now!

Search for Robin Hood Build Videos on YouTube. I started to embed them in a thread I named 'info gathering'. A guy called 'Ivan Sandford' uploaded them - you can do a search for him too. Tbh, they jump around all over the shop. They have no logical sequence, they are also badly filmed with RS and his cameraMAN! Your best bet, get the films from Simon and then do as much other digging around. I have found everyone at RHOCAR to be really helpful. So once you have gone doolally (watching the films). Come back here as everyone will help you out. Good luck

Do you guys know if the track rod ends need to be fitted from the bottom (so the thread going through the hole from the bottom with the nut on the top) - there nothing IVA-wise that would need this to happen is there. Ian mentions the tapered reamer thats all i would need to ensure the TRE fits correctly from the top. Thats right isnt it, and that would be okay for the IVA? Cheers

That great - they are bigger that what i thought i would need. At least it solves the studding problem through. so would i need wider rear arches then?

Hello all Just a quick couple of questions. I now have both of the Sliding Pillar uprights built up and on the car (pics will follow on the build thread). FERRINO (Tony) sent me some great clamps for the steering rack (Thank you again) and then i read on one of the threads that the T.R.E needed to be fitted from the bottom as opposed to 'from the top' and then there is difficulty getting a Metro TRE to fit a Sierra hub??? How have others made this work? I got some Ford Ronal alloys from 'the bay!' I will need to fit a spacer on the front hubs for the tyres to not rub on the springs. Can i ask what you nice guys and girls did? What size of spacer? Did you have to fit longer studs, if so which ones? I'm thinking this will only be a problem for the fronts as there is little for the rear tyres to rub on but is that the case, or do i need spacers on the rears? I am slowly building the back end up again - so i suppose will know myself soon. I have also seen some threads suggesting the use of shims on the back. Whats this about, and does it effect all cars? I know with sliding pillar i may not get pinpoint accuracy with set up but anything i can do to nudge it closer will be for the best. Thanks again for all your help as always

Just picked up my springs for the suspension. I bought some uprated front springs for the sliding pillar. When they came they were yellow and the finish wasn't great. Rather than send them back and incur the expense I decided to get them and while I was at it the rear springs to match. It's nice getting all these shiny bits!

Thanks to you both and for wracking the grey matter! I'll do some digging locally. If I can find the thread with the pics on the forum I will print them off and see if I can get something made that's similar. Can you remember a ball park figure of how much it cost you to gets yours fabricated? Thanks again.

There has been a bit of chat on FB about this echoing what's been said on here. The organiser is keen to get this shifted to its natural date as the season closer in September but has had to take this date for now. Fingers crossed for a dry November! But hey, I'm camping in Wales in August and even my heady-optimism is being stretched here!

Thanks Bob. What did you mount the rack on? When I pulled mine apart it was originally packed out is the best way I could describe it with small bits (look like off cuts) of metal about 50mm thick x 2. I've seen a post on here (but forgotten where??? ) where someone mounted there's on some thick pieces of alloy (that's what it looks like).

So. The progress since my last update. I have stripped down the first sliding pillar assembly. I have also painted the chassis bar the places I still need to weld bits into. Looking at what others had done and as I have decided (for now) to make the best of what I have, I have done the following; Complete strip down - regrease - and rebuild Increased the bottom threaded bolt to M12 8:8 Installed grease nipple to hub to grease inner hub for shaft Sourced new bottom bump stop Sourced new springs following what others have done on the forum to alleviate bump steer Installed new adjustable mini shocks. Just waiting for springs to come back from powder coaters in Chichester. Had a trial fit of upright with old spring and it looks great! So chuffed bits are going back on the car! Need to upload the pics from my other camera. To follow

Hello all Has anyone got the weather gear frames/hoops that attach to the car and sit under the roof on a 2B that they would like to sell? Alternatively, if you have the measurements I could make some up? Like wise with the brackets/hinges that connect the frames/hoops to the bodywork. Cheers guys

I would but it's really down to the finances. I saw a set of shocks come up on eBay a few months ago but lost out. I think new I would be looking at £1k or more. Unless it can be done cheaper???
