  1. I hope you watched the later ones - that first one is pretty dull...
  2. Finally got round to doing some video - not finished but the first few done, at the end of each days blog entry, starting here: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/2023/06/beauty-and-beast-tour-2023-day-2.html
  3. Interesting to see the process. How do you get the power curve to be lower down the rev range? I'm assuming there is no ECU here?

    Engine Swap.

Depends a lot on budget- if you can afford a Duratec, you'll get more power but Zetec much more affordable.
  5. Sorry, for some weird reason, the forum will only upload these photos upside down
  6. A surprisingly good little meet with an interesting selection of cars. I was the only 7 there: ....and we were one of the early ones but it soon filled up: Everything on this mini was carbon fibre, even the oil filler cap and top of the injectors and that red front brace is red carbon fibre !
  7. Yeah, sadly I don't think I'll be able to now either - got to take my daughter to a university open day
  8. Thank you all -it was as fun as it looked and highly recommended....its what our cars are best at...
  9. I had something similar a few years ago and turned out to be worn big-end bearings, A good test to see if it is internal to the engine is to pull of the HT lead from each cylinder in turn and see if the rattle stops. That will tell you the issue is on that cylinder...
  10. A metallic rattle won't be from the belt anyway, would it? Is it there all the time or just when being revved?
  11. I'm back in one piece - all the details in my blog...
  12. That must be pretty much every bug in the country, no?
  13. Shows our age - my daughter takes 37 photos before she's dressed!
  14. I depart on Saturday - full details and daily updates in my blog: https://zerolifebuild.blogspot.com/
  15. Cool, it'll be good to see you again Bob...
  16. A free event in it's 2nd year - could be a laugh? I'm booked in... https://www.eventbrite.com/e/copthorne-prep-charity-car-show-2022-registration-388904492807

    Engine cuts out

Obviously not electrical as it starts and runs for a while. Almost sounds like it's filling the carbs with petrol on startup but no more, so the engine runs on the fuel in the carb and then runs out? What's a manual fuel pump? You don't actually have to manually pump it as you're driving along?
  18. Don't worry, someone's just posted a pic of the GBS stand and it's empty Can you get a load of pics of the new show for poor saps like me having to do DIY all weekend?
  19. If anyone is free on June 24th, please join me at the CSUK Cars and Coffee event. I've never been before, so no idea what goes on but it's only £6 (tickets MUST be bought in advance), so no huge loss if its rubbish and gets you out for a bit Book here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/csuk-charity-cars-coffee-tickets-646231635217 If anyone fancies meeting up so we can go in together, please let me know. Hope to see some of you there
  20. As you say, I've never heard anyone complain of lift on a GBS - the old RHs with clamshell wings had that but not a Zero. However, LOTS of people have over-heating issues and bonnet louvres help but closing in the engine bay is not a great idea IMO. The Zero bay is already half-closed in, with the side panels extending to the inner chassis rails, so it's not a huge expanse left uncovered. The engine sump accounts for another large chunk of the inner section - I get very little debris into the bay.
  21. £4k sounds a bit fruity for something that old but I'll let more knowledgeable people comment on that. By the way, it was registered in 1979, so not quite as old as you thought... However, MOT history looks good - no horror stories in there...
  22. I don't know if carbs make a difference but with my injected Zetec, I started off with just a filter from the rocker cover. Works fine but it does cause a mist of oil to build up which looks a mess. I've now added a catch tank and it keeps the area cleaner, with no obvious side affects to engine performance.
  23. Well, if you found someone with a 3D printer, they'd probably also be able to edit the files and make holes? But you'll have to find them first...
