  1. To standardize, from the drivers seat right side is always right no matter where the steering wheel is or what side of the road you drive on. Likewise left is left from the drivers point of view. Worldwide standard. Done.

  2. Twas the Night Before Christmas....

'Twas the night before Christmas and in the garage,
There wasn't a trace of Chevy or Dodge.
The presents were wrapped and the lights were all lit,
So I figured I'd mess with the Zero a bit.

I popped the release and I lifted the hood,
When a deep voice behind me said "looks pretty good."
Well, as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick,
And there, by the workbench, stood good ol Saint Nick!

We stood there a bit, not too sure what to say,
Then he said "don't suppose that you'd trade for my sleigh?
I said "no way, Santa" and started to grin,
"But if you've got the time we could go for a spin!"

His round little mouth, all tied up like a bow,
Turned into a smile and he said "hey! Let's go!!"
So as not to disturb all the neighbors' retreat,
We pushed the Zero quietly into the street,

Then, taking our places to drift down the hill,
I turned on the key and I let the clutch spill.
The sound that erupted took him by surprise,
But he liked it a lot, by the look in his eyes.

With Goodyear's a' crying and side pipes aglow,
We headed on out where the hot rodders go.
And Santa's grin widened, approaching his ears,
Then he yelled "can't recall when I've felt so alive!"
So I backed off the gas and said "you wanna drive?"
Ol Santa was stunned when I gave him the keys,
When he walked past the headlights he shook at the knees!

Then the engine exploded with side exhaust sound!
Santa let out the clutch and the tires shook the ground!
Power shift into second, again into third!
I sat there just watching, at loss for a word,

Then I heard him exclaim as we blasted from sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, it's a heck of a night!!!"

Interestingly enough, will the car stop?

What prompted me to check my LP pump was this other post from someone who discovered his LP pump had died BUT his HP pump had enough oomph to suck the petrol from the tank directly, even through the non-functioning LP pump.

Actually in that post I don't think the LP pump died. I think it was never powered via the loom, that was my problem anyway. I had always tested the system by direct powering the LP pump just ass-um-ing the GBS harness would work correctly. The swirl pot was full on my first trip out and I can tell you, you can go 7.5 miles on a swirl pot full of fuel till you end up on the side of the road for your first drive out. Scratching your head.

High heat will cause the Facet LP pump to stop working. GBS reply is "dump cold water on it and hit it with something to get it going again."  My untested and unproven theory is the diffuser reduces air flow and traps heat causing problems for the LP pump. Especially in our constant +30*C temperatures out here.

  4. Is it a cranking problem or running problem with the heat? If cranking check the ground cable to/from the battery and you may want to add another ground strap to the starter.

If it is a running issue more than likely it is heat soaking of the swirl pot and HP pump in the engine bay. Tin tops do not have this setup and it is why I am in the process of moving everything to below the boot. Pumps do not like heat and we have more of it, it seems here in California (even though I'm in northern California) than in the UK.

  5. sounds like money well spent, especially to stay healthy!  Can you return it if it turns out not to be the issue? Here in the states they usually do not accept returns on electrical parts.  I guess you can always sell one on the aftermarket.

Good Luck.  Keep us updated on results.

  6. The webmaster was apparently having a lot of problems with spam, etc. It had been flagged as 'Not Secure' by chrome for a long time. Still a shame for build information to be lost even if some of it was just 1 step up better than VHS build tapes.🤣

  7. I have a machine that takes VHS and turns it into DVD.

BUT, it is much easier to just go to YouTube and watch this stuff online since it has already been uploaded there. The whole set.

You can download it off YT if you are desperate enough, have insomnia, a collector of trivia and technically savvy. I have done it being all the above. It's not really worth it, except for the insomnia. Stuart come on, join the new century, toss them in the dust bin, as you say. :drinks:
