  1. Ive been in touch with burton and they have informed me that this is something thay don't stock and told me to contact sales@ignitionsolutions.co.uk

I have spoken to ignition solutions and they have said

The resistor is generally for stopping the radio interference & shouldn’t cause any problems in terms of the running of the engine.

  2. Well I'd like to give my thanks to @maca for his help and guidance on strengthening my handbrake. Very much appreciated and such a knowledgeable man and with his guidance I'm sure my hood will get through the IVA when completed.

Thanks again Maca and on to the next job.👍

  3. Hi all I no this is an old topic but has any got pics of the strengthened floor and seat belt mounting talked about.

I myself are looking at the floor panel from GBS and cant see how it fits

It doesn't look much for £144 plus postage.

I'm tidying up poor workmanship of previous owner and I've started in the cockpit and around the seat harness fixing points so any pics people have of this and the floor strengthening would be great and very much appreciated.

Things have changed quite a bit from what I see and read about the IVA test from when these cars first came on the market. I can see the floor being a problem though as very little of it 😁.

Before pic of the pillar and after pic near fishing.

    Hi Jon,

Just did a search on the forum and came across this that may help you with your boot area.

I found that one maca I was wondering what everyone is doing on top of the diff area is there a floor there or is just left open

    Hi Jon,

Picking up the pieces from the former builder is always an issue of how much work you wish to take on.

You can be very brave and completely strip the car back to the bare chassis as my Son and I did or skip over some of the things.

(Drill out all the rivets and fit the other way round from outside to inside that would make it look better from the underside.)

We removed everything including the floor, welded all the holes up and completely started again by fitting and drilling a new 1mm sheet to the chassis the other way up after many modifications to the chassis first.

My car luckily had been assembled with self tapping screws in the floor panels.

You need plenty of storage space to put all the items you take off and remember where you put it all.

Have you a garage you can strip the car and be able to work in?

Can send you pictures to big to go on here at the moment.

    Regards

    Martin

    Hi Maca

Yes Im set up ok here to strip. some of it Is ok but this floor I'm not happy with, I think I'll do as you say and drill them all out and put other way round which I'm sure i seen that's how it's done on the videos on YouTube. I'm also interested in what people have done in the boot area. I've not seen any coverage on this in any of the videos.

  6. Ok I'm just going over the car drawing up a list of where to start first on the rebuild and looking underneath and the previous owner surly went wrong here the rivets look ridiculous. This cant be right. Has anyone got pics of there underneath please or is it just a case of putting in shorter rivets

Seat width is a real problem - I have the GT chassis for my Zero (probably the widest you can get of any kit chassis?) and I struggled. Bucket seats are fine but anything with padding and especially recliner mechanisms are unlikely to fit. Be very careful when measuring and don't forget to allow for the seatbelt bolts - they stick out a fair way.

In the end, I had to pay for Intatrim which are lovely and fit perfectly but £500 a pair 😬

Thanks nelmo it's hard to believe that they were designed to take a sierra seat.

I think I'll be going the same way with the bucket seats. I got time to find a pair as it's going to take 12 months to put right what's been done low standard on this car.🤯

  8. Thanks Richy I think I'll leave these seats. And look for alternatives.

I may go down the FX bucket seats route if there not to wide

    Theres lots to choose from

  9. Hi folks

Does anyone know where we stand on full harness through these seats for IVA

Or has the harness got to go either side of headrest.

    Welcome, nice colour.

Read the IVA manual and work to pass it then worry about the wish list and modifications. Build IVA Drive Modify, Drive oh don't forget breakdown and modify again.

That's the plan I've got the IVA manual 🤯 theres a whole section just on tyres ha. This is going to be fun 🥴

  11. Well she's arrived today so now the fun begins.

undo most of what's been done so as to do it at a better standard for IVA, still lots to get and change ie radiator, exhaust, dash, re fix brake pipes and fuel lines. Cant wait to start on her.😁😁😁😁😁
