  1. sadly, they are in the right way. I'mhoping this hold the key, it might help somebody else. https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?64306-Weber-40-45-DCOE-Experts-Proper-Float-Level
  2. the chokes are all the same, but i will check the jets. Again, thank you Steve.
  3. Many thanks Steve. The jets are all pretty close to ideal, I intend to go to a rolling rd later to get them spot on, but having spoken with southern carbs I'm sure they are close enough to not be the problem. i got the carbs second hand, but had them ultrasonic cleaned, then fitted new gaskets, and new float valves. There are no resriction for the air. The weird thing is its just one barrel. I've double checked the float levels, and fitted a filter king, the pressure is below 3lb psi. Funny after a good clean, when i went back into the carbs I did find sediment in the bottom of the float chamber. It has a cold start, but Im sure those are firmly closed. Maybe take the carbs off again and blow everything through with an airline. Now the sun is out it would be nice to have it running! Thanks again. Maybe i will switch the jets over and see if the problem moves, incase one of the jets has been messed with... clive.
  4. I have recently replaced the fuel injection on my 2.0 pinto with two weber DCOE 40 12s. Its running horribly rich, and on tickover I can see fuel from one of the venturis dripping out. I have rechecked the float level, and fitted a filter king reducing the pressure to about 2.5 lbs PSI to no avail. HELP!!!
  5. I got my MOT a few weeks ago. I feared it would fail on emissions. They didn't test that. Happy days.
  6. many thanks for the replies. I now have the wishbones with a fabricator. He is going to angle the tube that takes the track rod end 15 deg up, and make a new bracket on the lower wishbone to accept a 14 inch coil over gaz shock. Hopefully I will than have solved the problem.
  7. many thanks for the replies. Sparepart, I just found that Frap site this morning, and I think I found a replacement that is cranked, but by how much it doesn't say...I then found a qh equivalent.. a pair for 12 quid, so I might but them in the hope that they do the job. Richy thank you, the end i have is 14mm thread, so not the transit one listed, I hope its man enough for the job! I can't see hom the angle can be changed as the tapered pin is set straight in the part that clamps into the hub. I did wonder whether i could just get those bits turned but with the tapered hole set so it is vertical, but i doubt there is room. fingers crossed the qh bit does the job, otherwise i might change the wishbones.. again thank you both.
  8. The upper track rod ends on my 2B limit the downward travel of the suspension. I can't find a part number on them. The problem is because the tail is near horizontal, but the pin is already 10 degrees off vertical when at normal ride height. As it tries to travel down the outer part of the socket touches the pin. There is about a 3 degree bend in the tail, which adds to the problem. If I could find track rod ends with about a 10 degree bend upwards it would solve the problem. The tail is 14mm 1.5 pitch. The pin is tapered and I think a 10mm thread. Why does nobody publish a list of whats available with drawings????
  9. make a metal plate that matches the screw holes in the hinge, then use some adhesive like "sticks like *bleep*" between the plate and the bumpy inside face of the GRP, and then fix hinge with machine screws and nuts, whilst the adhisive is still uncured .
  10. Thanks Richyb66. I have the same problem, and found your comment within 5 minutes. I will now go spend more money.
  11. I should think you have! You have done a beautiful job on her. I would be very proud to do such work! I just paid 4500, for what I thought was tidy, but I have been fettling for 3 weeks, with plenty more to do, including fitting the soft top it came with, (but no fittings on the car), and it handles like a hovercraft. I am praying new shocks and springs will sort that. What size wheels and tyres were those? I have 15 inch wheels but would lover more ground clearance, and longer legs.
