  1. Just an idea. Maybe of you could post a video of them doing their thing before you dispense with them, that might warn people more vividly?
  2. I use the same too. I've never had a problem. They are only as stable as the ground you use them on. On flat ground mine are sturdy.
  3. You want a coolant pump for a heater to keep you warm? This is what i gathered from your initial post. Why not use an electric automotive heater to do the job of warming you? I've seen them on the market. You would be getting warm before the engine warms up.
  4. extricate car from garage, MOT, insurance, tax, paint, use.

Good plan but paint is optional

  5. Installing 'completed' (?) ignition module kit (and anciliaries) and repinting galvanized mild steel mono-coque car.

  6. Yes! My exhaust manifold would self-distruct by cracking due to vibration, particularly at tick-over. I strengthened it, yet it broke again - it just took longer the second time. I added a ball and socket type of exhaust connector and this seems to be a permanent fix, dampening the vibration.
  7. I would like to do this - two of us please.
  8. Fascinating video. Definitely one to share with my five year old. She is well into documentaries.
  9. I have a monocoque version and its very susceptible to side winds on the motorway. Even if the wind is coming from a constant direction and the car goes round a bend it can feel insecure, presumably as the forces against the car change. Could this be part of your problem? I've often suspected the camber is too negative on the rear, particularly when we run such low tyre pressures and have a more triangular foot print as a consequence. Combine this with a rear toe angle, wet road and high winds. Does this make any sense? Just my uneducated musings.
  10. Are they solid from top to bottom, or do they fold?
  11. Let me know if this has not worked. Its supposed to be a link to my PhotoBucket account. I've never used it before. http://s901.photobucket.com/user/gambolgold/library/ Note: The carburetor is not in the centre of the air-box-thing because of the shape of the carburetor would mean it would foul the air-box-thing's oval tube. Perhaps if it were, a filter could fit around it?
  12. I should be able to take some on the weekend. If I find some on my computer I will send before then.
  13. I made a plenum for my down draft Weber carburetor from the lid off a Toyota air filter box. This is also on a pinto with very little space to play around with. The air box was from a later MR2 Mark one - it has the air box in the boot, as opposed to the earlier MR2 which has the air box in the engine compartment. Anyway :-)! This air box lid is just the right size and you can attach an air tube of the required length and a filter of your choice to this. Let me know if you need photos.
  14. You've probably thought of this already. Is the stripe sticky material heat proof only it's right next to the exhaust?
  15. Cyclist did not make allowance for the car possibly slowing down in front of him. You were parked well into a lay-by.
  16. My S7 had its original shock absorber s replaced with something like Fiat Punto shock absorbers, and I'd never experienced anything like what you describe. I could send some photos on the weekend if you like.
  17. I don't know who now, but a wise man on a kit car forum once had as his signature: "don't attribute to malice what can be explained as stupidity" ~ I might be paraphrasing a little here. I've found it a very useful motto, both driving and as a cyclist. I wonder if it's had a similar soothing effect for anyone else.
  18. Just completed the electronics kit (Digital Hand Controller) intended to programme the ignition module I built from a kit a while ago. Next is to put them both together to see if they work, and after that to install the system on the car.

  19. It might drive really well .... well it might. It has a 'steam-punk' style and a sensible kind of engine and could be more aerodynamic than mine. I dig the drift wood dashboard.
  20. The magazine 'Practical Classics' has a section in on car prices. one month will have car manufacturers A to about P. Then the next months edition with list Q to Z. It will list three prices for that car depending on condition. The answer will be in there.
  21. Forgive my Ingrish: "exhaust corrrction" should read "exhaust connection". (The joys of Swype plus small child on lap).
  22. Hi, After removing the exhaust on my car to reweld and lag it. I had a similar problem. Plus the additional issue of the engine at low revs shaking the exhaust off and breaking it now and then. I cut the pipe just inside where it enters the body and welded a exhaust correction (a ball and socket kind of thing which clamps with two bolts in springs). This means the engine no longer shakes the exhaust to bits as the new join offers some damping between the two halves of pipe. It also means it's much easier to remove from the car and reinstall. If you did anything similar you might kill two birds with one stone. Regards
  23. Hi, Could you please send a message about the condition of your calipers and how much you are asking for them. I would be able to collect on my way to in-laws. I go there every other month or so. Cheers
