  1. Hi all, don't wish to spoil the bargain hunt but if they were cobalt alloy steel that would be that price EACH; these could be dirt cheap 'cos they're cobalt coated dirt but then the SUN some-times shines (especially on our boys in blue) Regards Bob.
  2. Hi, thanks for all the replies; loks like I'm stuffed which ever way I go. Recon if its all about road safety & keeping untaxed/un-insured vehicles off the road a recorded delivery letter advising renewal due is the best way-- then a automatic fine for those who fail to repond. My Sierra was off the road untaxed/un-sorned for several years by the previous owner-- I sorned it to try & keep on the right side of DVLA. What an easy way to make a load of money-- send no reminder--hope for poor memory--issue large fine. Into each life some rain will fall, some will be warm & yellow. Regards Poorer Bob.
  3. Hi all, I've made an expensive mistake. Sorned the Sierra when purchased but forgot to re-sorn after 12 months (didn't read the small print) Didn'treceive a reminder; now I've got a penalty notice for £80 + £30 back duty(reduced to £40 + £30 if paid very quickly) The Sierra was dismantled 10 months ago so therefore effectively scrapped but still in my owner-ship; do any of you out there think is worth trying to argue with them or will they reply after the "special offer" date & I'll be forced to pay the full wack. Regards Bob Fry.
  4. Hi, I didn't bend the sides of my seat-back panel forwards as it was too stiff ; I cut the panel around the chassis-tubes then made-up more filler plates with a right-angle web to stick & rivet to the main panel-- all coated in Nail & Seal before final fixing-- therefore seat-back & sides are all metal--NO "dry use only" for my car -- that is if we still have rain in2020. Regards Bob.

    Rear Coilovers

Hi all, hate to tell you; St3v3nw; but your now warm workshop is going to become a damp shop if the products of combustion are not vented outside via a flue ( chimney) -- 1 litre of gas burnt = 1 litre of water vapour into your shop -- didn't the instructions say use in a well ventilated space ? Yes, we know, blokes don't do instructions so dig 'em out of the bin & check or say s*d off & stay warm--& damp. Regards Bob warm & dry with my wood burner.
  7. Hi all, this Southern Hood threw 'is 'at in a couple of days ago -- but not for the boss's job -- so I'm ready to help push the club & Steve( if elected) forward. Have a peaceful & happy Christmas, regards Bob Fry.
  8. Hi all, have fitted petrol tank & decided to mount RH locking cap in top panel of boot--Q1 how does cap lock to RH neck. Q2 what size does the neck need reducing too for unleaded. Q3 where does the tank vent come from & go to. there is no spare outlet on the tank & I'm not going to cut/shut the Sierra fuel pipe as I want all that expensive juice going broom-broom not drip-drip-bang. Regards & seasons greetings (what-ever they may be) Bob Fry
  9. Hi all, I thought I read or saw somewhere that front indicators ( &/or side-lights) were now OK on a swivelling part i.e cycle wing ---hope so 'cos that's where I want to put mine; seems like the best place too ; hence your mod + indicator will be more visible towards the direction you wish to go!! Can we expect any common-sense from VOSA? Regards Bob Fry.
  10. Hi Zed, take very great care!!! side windows could be toughened glass which will shatter into thousands of tiny squares ( look for small dimples in a corner ) laminated can be cut but needs to be scored on both sides then split & the plastic membrane cut with a knife, edge can be trimmed on an oil-stone but it takes a long time. Warning--- this is what I remember from 30 years ago when I built my first kit-car--- please shoot me down quickly if I'm wrong. Regards Bob Fry
  11. Yes I agree a real professional job, will hang in the garage as a build-goal reminder, well done all who made it possible, regards Bob Fry.

    Suspension Help

Hi, Ian & carol; could you please tell me price & place of purchase for your wishone boots? many thanks Bob Fry.
  13. Hi all, for some it's the only way to remember what you left in the car-park--- mine is R70 FRY--- bought by my wife for my ?? birthday--- I think . Regards Bob.
  14. Hi all, & thanks to Sue --- having run my own business for 30 odd years as boss/worker/tea-boy/broom-pusher etc I,m probably not fully aware of the workings of something like the club ;which involve hundreds of souls; compared to the half dozen or so in my business . So having stated my willingness to help the club if I can I will sit back & wait to see future developments; which I hope will lead to the club going onward & upward. Regards Bob Fry.
  15. Hi all, sad to read of big Tim's retirement from leadership-- as were many others including Mat-d-rat-- ,tis unfortunate that his post to-day will not accept any replies & that my post of 12-11-07 Re: New Mag has not generated any replies also. My comments & offers of the 12th stand, best wishes for a more peaceful future to Tim & his lady; Regards Bob Fry.
  16. Thanks Chris, my RH side panels are non-mag so is the rear-end all other panels supplied are mag. Will follow your words of wisdom & use mag S/Steel from the job-lot I bought locally first (its going into my boot & inner wing fabrication) Regards Bob.
  17. Hi all, & thanks to Mitch for rolling me over to the correct bed + info, still would like to know tarnish rates of both mag & non-mag if possible.Regards Bob.
  18. Sorry, this silly old fool stuck this question in the "For Sale" box ---none of my stainless is for sale at the moment, just want to know which is best to use (more lessons on flying computers would be good) Most humble apologies regards Bob.
  19. Hi all, Please can some brighter spark than I tell me the differences between magnetic & non-mag stainless sheet apart from the obvious, I have the choice of either for fitting out my boot/inner wing area. I do not know what spec No. any of the job lot is , only some mag, some not. Which is best for working/drilling--- which has best tarnish/corrosion resistance. Regards Bob Fry

    Gbs Emails

Hi, all my E-mails were answered up until I had major issues with parts contained in my kit; then nothing-- not even replies to recorded delivery letters; sorted out by repeated heated phone-calls; GBS reconned I was being very unreasonable-- expecting them to supply a kit as per the web & cat. spec!! Aaahh well into each life some rain must fall, and some is warm & yellow Regards Bob.
  21. Hi, if you throw enough mud soner or later even fresh snow will appear dirty--- will any-body really know what happened--- I'm gonna send you all an e-mail on the meaning of life --- Itrust you won't tell Regards Bob Fry.
  22. Thanks to all my readers ; plus more thanks to replies so far; more replies required please to answer the issue of whether belt mounts need to be in line with seat belt holes. Regards Bob Fry.
  23. Hi all, help required-- seat belt mounts on 2B+ stainless chassis are at 230mm centres-- strap holes in Cobra 7 type seats are at 113mm-- neither hole lines-up with tube welded thru 50 tube behind seats-- do I need too drill & weld-in new mounts inline with seat holes-- also do mounts need a trap-nut on bottom for "one-hand " fixing?? Thanks all, regards Bob Fry.
  24. Hi all; this old electrician totaled his knees during a lifetime of wiring other peoples pads so on retirement fitted his workshop wall to wall with foam rubber "carpet" from Machine Mart. IT'S LOVELY where-ever I kneel is soft & warm-- makes a horrible stink when welding though so cover with hardboard in local area; water just sits on top so is easily cleaned-up. Cost was approx £250 for 28 x 14 total floor , & your tools bounce -- but may-be that's too much info. Regards Bob Fry.
