I've just put a nose cone and cycle wings on Ebay for a few pounds but if any Rhocar member is interested then free to collect, quite scratched though. I've also got a BBQ style nose cone grill, again free to members, but if I have to post then please cover postage costs. Also got a fuel tank which came with the kit free if anyone wants to collect and rear fibre glass mudguard rims that fit with the stainless steel mudguard again free to collect. I don't know how I accumulated all these bits but just found 2 alternators and 3 starter motors, will photograph them and list them later.
  8. Result, the V5c came through this morning, all correctly registered as Robin Hood 2B Plus and checked with DVLA it is taxed, insurance in place so now going out for my first drive, don't care if it is raining, I've waited long enough, will be careful in the wet though. Excited or what
  9. The number I called to check progress is 0300 790 6802 then hit various options. They were very helpful. Hope yours is quicker than mine took, or is still taking
  10. Been waiting for nearly 4 weeks now for the registration documents to come back following the IVA. Phoned the DVLA today and they are processing my application at long last, they were able to give me the registration number, age related which is exactly what I wanted, can now register with my personal plate H15 KYT. Still another 5 - 7 days though before the paperwork & V5 finally arrives but still very exciting.

    Iva.. Again

Congratulations, know just how you feel, well done. I passed the retest on the 19th September and sent off the V55/5 the following day. Still no registration so phoned the DVLA today and they said another 10 days, Doh, I'm itching to get out. I suppose they are busy as the new regs came out on the 1st Sept. That smile will be there for a long time and the grin every time you take it out for a run. Lets all hope the weather holds up. Good result well done
  12. My 2B Plus passed its IVA last week at Gillngham, presented like this, wasn't a problem
  13. Registration forms all completed and Liz is off to post them, really is a family affair this car. Hopefully I have filled them out right and not missed anything, will let you all know when I get it registered. Alan you are right, the building is never finished, already planning on changes to be made this winter, first thing though is a proper steering wheel, planning to drive it to CBS and sit in their car park trying different wheels to see what suits best.
  14. How about John still grinning.
  15. Had the retest today at Gillingham and a big fat pass, well pleased. It originally failed on the position of the seat belt mounts which were governed by the positions on the chassis so I am surprised that I'm the only 2B to fail on this point. Anyway we moved and rewelded the mounts, went along this morning and within 20 mins had our Individual Approval Certificate IAC. Drove home the long way, we are only 4 miles from the test centre, big smile on my face and still grinning now. Must say a big big thank you to the club, all the ideas and advice have been priceless, brilliant. Sounds like an awards ceremony but I must thank in particular, Ken, Bob and Al for drinking my tea and scoffing our biscuits while giving invaluable help and support, cant wait to get out for a thrash before the summer goes and while Bob still has his hood. Now filling out the V55/5 and V627/1 and all the other bits to post tomorrow and wait for their return so I can get the plates made up. Cheers Rhocar John still grinning
  16. Hi Ken You should have said when you were here earlier, I've got a nose cone badge you can have. Yours next time we meet up. John
  17. I made a picture of the fuel filler by carefully placing the actual filler on my colour photocopier and making a copy, came out great and actual size. Covered with some see through sticky vinyl and job done.
  18. I note you are building a 2B, Just a thought,on seat belt mounts, I have just failed my IVA on the position of the lower seat belt mounts, not the strength but the position. I took the position from the outer belt plate that comes on the kit. This is too far forward and puts the seat belt on your lap and not pulling backwards across your stomach. Thought I would mention it incase you havent already done it, I have had to strip down the car and reweld plates further back.
  19. I had the same problem, soultion is to measure down how far the latch goes, drill and tap a hole and screw in a small bolt which the latch will catch on Seal the thread. Worked for me HTH
  20. Exactly Ken, I have fitted most of the trim today so should keep him happy, we will bleed the brakes on Wednesday and I think I have a solution for the seat belt mounts. Dont know where I am going to put all that petrol once I have drained it, looks like Liz and my sons cars will soon have full tanks.
  21. Thanks Nick but I did discuss that with the examiner, if the belt went around the seat it would still fail as in the event of a front impact the belt would be slackened as it cut into the seat under the forward force And to answer Richys question, it is the face of the grill that makes the mesh that does not have the required radius.

    Iva Fail

Took my 2B Plus to Gillingham on Friday and as the title says, it failed. Not miserably but still a fail The minor points were 1. The brakes were spongy and needed bleeding, although they did pass the brake test with flying colours 2. The A post on the windscreen needs rubber edging. 3. Under dash edge needs small rubber edging. 4. N/S under dash needs edging. 5. The lower panel where the fog and reversing lights fit to needs edging. 6. The grill in the nose cone does not have the correct radius. 7. Engine mount when viewed from under the car appears to have one of the 4 fixing points not completely flat against the face edge. 8. The louvres in the bonnett need rubber edging They were the minor points which are all easily rectified. 9. The main failure was the position on the seat belt mounting points, not the strength but the position. The upper belts go through the holes in the Cobra seats and are not directly in line with the fixing points, this creates a weak point, solution is different seats or move the mounting point. These were already part of the kit so I was goverened by that. 10. The lower fixing point was also a failure because of the position, again I was goverened by the kit, I positioned the inner point from the position of the outer which is determined by the kit. Because the lower mounting point is too far forward the belt sits on your lap and does not go across the stomach.which would allow 'Submarining' in the event of an accident. Biggest issue I have is that I now have a full tank of fuel and need to weld new brackets for the seat belts, even draining the tank will not get rid of the fumes, which are the dangerous bit. Overall not too bad a result, even though I am disappointed, I was pleased it passed the brake test with no problems, emmissions were fine, noise was 96db so a result, oh and the speedo was reading 69 on his meter and 70 on my speedo, so I did calibrate it right. Already had offers of help from fellow members so will take them up on that. Will also be booking a retest on Monday as I understand there is a months waiting list. A hell of an experience and not a bad result, the examiners opening line was, I've only ever passed one kit car first time and I've done hundreds, and he was an aero engineer' Thanks to one and all for all your help and advice, sure it would have been worse had I not had the feedback from you guys and the amazing help from my local fellow Hoodies.
  23. Found it, on the Appointment Notification form, point 8 of the Booking Conditions states "it must be presented with the fuel tank(s) full."
