  1. Getting close to the IVA, should be after 8 years

  2. Same here, ply covered with leatherette and a couple of barrel locks
  3. Exactly Ian sometimes you cant see the woods for the trees, take a step back and start from the beginning and do the obvious.
  4. Result, ran a new earth strap from the fuel pump and fault has gone. Have now replaced the original earth with a new wire and new ends and is OK The old earth wire looks fine but obviously was not. Thanks guys, you don't know what a relief that is to me. This one post has paid for my 2015 membership Cheers all John
  5. Yes it is the same light, have checked the fuel pump earth and is OK, the brake lights are OK, its the warning light that is flashing. Keep the ideas coming
  6. I've got a bit of an odd query which is holding me up at the moment. When I turn on the ignition, the ignition warning light and oil pressure lights come on as does the brake fluid light As the electric Fuel pump runs the hand brake warning light comes on and pulses in time with the pump. When the pump stops the light goes off. Don't ask which wiring loom I have used, It is a brother in law special, he has done a great job but is away at the moment and I thought I may be able to fix it before he gets back. I have earthed the crank shaft sensor wire and checked all earths Still pulses when the engine is running. Disconnected the hand brake switch but still the same Clutching at straws really to see if anyone has any ideas Thanks John Tried to post a video but file too big, having a bad day
  7. Thanks Bob for your nice comments and every one else's words of encouragement. Liz is chuffed you all like her sewing skills but is glad to have finally finished her part of the build. I've just got to fix a small annoying electrical fault then I can get it back to BD Engineering for tuning then the IVA. Hopefully Liz and I will see you all at Stoneleigh Couldn't have got this far without the help and support of fellow members Cheers John
  8. Wish you hadn't raised that, the chrome surround was bought from CBS so I would hope it conforms. However it is 5mm thick so does have a small radius of near 2.5mm so should be OK Also think the 165mm sphere would struggle to get in there. However I do stand to be corrected
  9. Now doing all the tidying up bits. Liz, my wife, has just made the handbrake gaiter, matches the gear stick cover she made earlier. Think I can now use that famous E Bay saying "99% complete, just needs an IVA"
  10. Hi Bob You have been a busy bunny. The Zetec takes a 3/4 UNF Merry Christmas to all John
  11. Thanks for all your replies, I was out today and bought a HOF266 before I saw Bobs reply, unfortunately although the sizes are great the screw is not 3/4 unf. Will change it and get a HOF 203 unless Bob's offer is still on Cheers
  12. Thanks for the suggestions, the C104 is 79mm long which still catches the steering shaft. Apparently their is a WIX WL 7064 which is only 58m long, will Google that and see. Are there any implications with fitting a smaller oil filter
  13. Has anyone fitted a remote oil filter to a 2.0L Zetec silver top On my 2B the steering shaft is uncomfortably close to the filter and I need to get some clearance and I think the easiest solution is to fit a remote oil filter, has anyone any experience of this. Cheers John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  14. My wife has just brought to my attention a story line in Coronation Street. Apparently some guy called Steve has just bought a kit car and is now spending more money on it than it is worth. Ring any bells she said, well I replied for a start I am 66 so not going through a mid life crisis and also he has brought a Dutton and I'm building a Hood. Women hey love em
  15. Keeping on topic, I did go for vinyl wrap on my 2B. Didn't use 3m as too pricey but now regret it, looked easy on You Tube. The final finish looks good the red snout on the nose cone is because we couldn't get the vinyl to wrap around the nose, the more you played with it the worse It got. So we cut the vinyl back to reveal the red underneath, think it actually looks better Pleased with the final finish though John
  16. The SVA regs said that the fuel filler should be a certain size so you cant put diesel in a petrol engine. I cant find this in the current IVA manual so thought it no longer applies, however I noticed in the Car Builders Solutions Catalogue they are still selling the inserts for the fuel filler stating they are IVA unleaded fuel regulations. Would hate to fail on such a small point, any one any thoughts. Think I should go with what the IVA manual says, unless its in there and I missed it John By th way, anyone else aving trouble when posting a topic nthe frum ta the ypig keep missing ??

    Iva Norwich

Good Luck, I'm booking mine soon so know how you feel, 3 and a half years ! makes me feel guilty having taken 8 yes 8 years. Let us know how it goes, fingers crossed. John
  19. Well thanks very much for the nice comments always very pleasing when coming from a fellow hoody Hopefully will get it all IVA'd so I can bring it along to Stoneleigh planning to bring the motorhome and camp overnight and join the Hoody party. John
  20. Now doing all the finishing off bits in prep for the IVA. Big thanks to Bob Tucker for his help last week, it just wouldn't start, after a few checks turns out the plugs were knackered even though they were new. Apparentley plugs don't like Zetec engines and they only need to be flooded to ruin them, new set of plugs fitted. Anyway Bob sorted that out and now she is running ready to take to BD ngineering for a rolling road set up. Thats' the wonder of this club, always genuine people ready to help, wouldn't have got this far if it wasn't for this forum and the members. Finally finished the dash so posted a pic, big thank you to my very understanding wife who did all the leather (Vinyl) work. Printed off the IVA forms, not as daunting as first thought. Big intake of breath and going for it. Stoneleigh here I come. John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  21. I will soon be applying for the IVA for my 2B. Meanwhile I need to get it to BD Engineering to get it tuned and set up. I know the rules about it must be trailered, all 4 wheels off the ground but can drive to IVA etc. My question is could it be towed if I have trade plates on it, my local garage has offered to tow it to BD. Anyone know if this is legal Thank John
  22. Cheers Bob, wiring now finished, so will be starting the engine tomorrow and driving round the close. Glad the hand is getting better John
  23. Thanks, that suits me, I want an age related plate but bought the kit secondhand and I have a donar car and V5 so assume I will get age related as the donar
  24. It says New Kit, does this mean that it must have been bought from RHE or others as new, or how do you stand if you bought the kit secondhand from someone but not started
  25. Thought I would share this with you. I had an issue with a part that I bought from Car Builder Solutions some while ago. I phoned them and explained the problem and that it was well out of guarantee. Without a second thought they offered to replace the part, that was on Monday and on Wednesday morning a brand new replacement was delivered. Now that's what I call service. Thanks to all at CBS http://www.johnskitcar.com
