  1. Does anyone know where I can get an Aero Screen to fit my 2B Plus. I am having all sorts of problems with the heater hoses and the demister so thought I would fit an Aero Screen for the IVA, removes a lot of potential fails. Spoke to Andy the examiner at Gillingham, "They don't call me no pass Andy for nothing " !! and he did not have a problem with it. Any ideas. Thanks John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  2. I have checked my screen again and it has exactly the same markings as Richy's screen, 43R and tempered. As the VOSA centre is only 2 minutes from home I will take a picture of the markings with me to get it clarified, should have taken a pic in the first place doh. I will let you know what the examiner says Thanks for all your input Cheers John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  3. Visited the VOSA centre in Gillingham today to clarify the E17 mark, as suspected, it does need the EC43 mark, apparently the E17 denotes the country of origin and the 43 is the spec. I spoke to Andy one of the examiners, very helpful and knowledgeable, he wasn't adverse to me not fitting the windscreen, he said the IVA is to check the car on the day of the test, nothing stopping me fitting the screen afterwards, which surprised me. I also took the opportunity to ask him about the brake balance adjusting valve that I had fitted, a big No No, would definetely fail, I said how am I meant to balance the brakes, his response, by design !!. Not the best of outcomes but much better to learn now than on the day of the test. Very happy with Andy's help and he was more than pleased to give advice. Oh well back to the drawing board. 4. Thanks Guys, certainly wont be in a position to IVA it before April, I wish !! I did find the section about the safety glass, thanks for that, but as suggested I think I will have a word with the nice man at the VOSA Centre. Will let you know the outcome just incase it helps anyone else. Cheers John http://johnskitcar.com
  5. Can anyone clarify please, the windscreen that came with my 2B is marked as E17 and I intend fitting this for the IVA. But I have noticed that one topic mentioned the screen should have the mark EC43, I can't find this on the IVA regs, I know I can leave the windscreen off but don't particularly want to do that. Any help or advise greatfully received. Cheers John http://www.johnskitcar.com
  6. Really like the concept, I also went for a centre console with the speedo and rev counter behind the wheel, still have a lot of work to do, especially making sure the steering wheel is not covering the dials. I have got pics and a description of how I built in on my web site www.johnskitcar.com Cheers John
  7. My screen has the markings E17, is this OK John still building www.johnskitcar.com
  8. Thanks Andy, very interesting reading, if not a little concerning, I was aware that the manually adjustable brake bias valves are not acceptable, as per previous posts, but how do we interpret point 3 Fuel Tanks, 'protection afforded in the event of a rear accident'. I am building a 2B Plus, do I need to put in extra strength to protect the tank, or is the chassis and spare wheel holder adequate? John www.johnskitcar.com
  9. You are more than welcome to it, it's only got very light surface rust so hopefully will meet your needs. I will drop you a PM with my details. Cheers John
  10. I've got a Sierra sender unit if you want it, I live just the other side of the tunnel. John
  11. Thanks Guys for all your help, I've got a much better idea now, will give it a try and let you know how I get on, Cheers John
  12. Haven't got a fuel rail that I can see, does that only apply to fuel injection, not carbs, or have I got it wrong again.
  13. I am building a 2B Plus with a Mondeo 2.0L Zetec silver top engine running on twin 45 DCOE webers. The fuel pump is a Facet silver top, right that's set the scene, now the question. I have run the fuel feed pipe from the tank to a T piece just before the Fuel regulator and then a return pipe back to the tank, the other end of the T goes to the regulator. My question is, is this correct as all I can think will happen is that the fuel will go straight back to the tank and not to the regulator. I have run rubber fuel hose with 9mm internal dia. for both feed and return, should I have used a narrow dia for the return. Any help or advice will be greatley received. Hi to all those I met at Detling on Sunday. Cheers John. www.johnskitcar.com
  14. I did go a bit over the top with reducing the pic, hopefully this one is a bit clearer. Thanks for the advice, are the 'arms' meant to be inner of the mounting or outer, I am still not happy with the angle of the ball joint but if I turn the mounting so the 'arms' are outer of the bracket the ball joint sits better but the 'arms' then they foul the tyre. Not doing my best at explaining this am I.
  15. Hi Seasons Greetings to one and all. I am struggling with how to fit the 2B Plus cycle wing brackets. Mine is the type that has the brackets as part of the top wishbone ball joint housing. First question, does the long arm or the short arm point forward, also the angle of the ball joint into the housing is very sharp, is this right. From the picture can anyone confirm if this is correct. Thanks John
  16. Hi Archie, have emailed my details but recently had problems with my emails so if you haven't received them then let me know. John
  17. Hi Archie, that would be great, just let me know when. Cheers John
  18. I've got 2 sets of Sierra front calipers and carriers looking for a good home. One set is complete i.e. 2 calipers and 2 carriers, the other set has 2 calipers but only 1 carrier. They have been stripped down and the pistons are out. Free to any Hoodies in the kent area that is able to pick them up from Rainham. Warning though you may be cornered and asked loads of difficult questions, like what is this bit? and where does this bit go? Cheers John
  19. Thanks Chris, will give that a try. I am learning the hard way that nothing is simple with a hood. Cheers John
  20. Thanks Jay, problem is my lamp post outside is square, take your point though, I will try the soil pipe method as Chris suggested. Thanks to you all for your suggestions, I know it wont be my last question. Cheers John
  21. Thanks for that, one point though, is that when you have a crocodile type bonnet which is secured to the nose cone. I am going to go for the lift off type bonnet with a fixed scuttle so it is not screwed to the nose cone. Hope I have explained it properly.
  22. Hi Guys, HELP I'm building a 2B Plus and as all you experienced Hoodies will know, the nose cone profile and the bonnet profile are not the same. I have read somewhere that you make a plywood former and pull it in with a tourniquet, tried that but obviously just springs out again. Can't hit it with a hammer, much as I would like to, any ideas please. By the way, I have 2 sets of Sierra front calipers going spare, 1 set complete the other set missing a carrier, when I say set I mean both front wheels, free to any Hoodies in the Kent area that can pick them up from Gillingham. Cheers John.
  23. Thanks Tony, have sent you my email address, what a helpful lot you are. Cheers John
