  1. My previous mot have been similar, this guy is fairly young and keen, he was mainly being carefully due to mot stations being checked up on at the minute to see they are adhering to all the new rules... To be honest I don't mind at least I know my car 100%

  2. If my details were on that leak i.m personally not bothered ! As for Allan offering to resign that is also in my opinion not appropriate, this club is in enough of a decline without losing active area secs!

Learn from it and move on...

I think 5 lashings and 10 hail Mary's suitable punishment...

  3. I've been dreading this mot more than any before, with changes to the rules etc. 1st big worry was emissions, I run 450cc injectors and no idle control valve meaning it idles at 1000rpm and hunts a little bit with the afr 11.5 and 13.5 (rich) previous years mot stations visually tested it only Q plate, now it has to be tested to pass 4.5% to my surprise it did 3.5 %.. next worry was brakes, I have just fitted a new brake system 4pot willwood midilites fronts with 285 discs willwood fast rd pads new pipes m/c etc also converted the rear from drum to disc etc the brakes had done 0 miles as car hasn't been moted for months so not bedded in or tested thankfully it past no issue at all. Only potential fail points were no rear reflectors headlight aim way to high (new LEDs) and main beam indicator. Thankfully he had these bits in stock and let me adjust the aim. This mot was the full no holds barred test and the car got through with ease, well happy now...

  4. To complicate this has further i,m not a fan of Gaz the damping settings aren't right for light cars, too hard, I had them on my 2b they started leaking after 3k and corroded badly in no time at all. I use protech coilovers which are set accordingly and have been faultless for 4yrs. Similar price to Gaz

  5. Well I'm truly astonished......10 minutes after putting in the additive all the rattles have gone.

Neil, I have hydraulic lifters, but as I understand it the blacktop has solid lifters.

If thats the case the additive wont help you im afraid.

Try videoing it close to the engine so we can have a listen

what have you put in ?
  6. Thinking about it a bit more it could be a cracked piston crown, if you are running rich as hell it's false economy potentially a new engine versus a Dyno run... Might be worth a compression check on all cylinders

  7. I take it you have good oil pressure ? My silvertop rattles if the oil overheats due to hydraulic lifters not liking the hot oil, not relevant to yours as the blacktop has solid lifters.
