I'm going to have to go and have a look at mine now! It may be because the caliper piston is painted orange that I "think" there's an issue with pad position.

Why can I see the piston seal in the first picture? If there is a pad in there I shouldn't be able to see it! You have fitted both pads and that picture is just to show the spring position?

Bump! Any IT mods out there, it looks like I'm not the only one who has an issue with posting cars in the garage section?

A "temporary" structure tends to avoid planning issues, a "lean to" type structure will keep a lot of weather out especially if it has side to it. I've seen some tent/garage structures from Frost and Machine Mart that may also work but that does involve an initial cash outlay.

If I hop from my daily drive 140 BHP @ 1500 KG (no slouch but....) into the 2B 120 BHP @ 750 Kg and the difference is very noticeable and I think that the kit is great, hop back into the BMW and it does feel slow! The problem for me now (there are worse problems I know but...) is when I hop from the M3 343 BHP @ 1600 KG back into the 2B and it feels slow in comparison! The only choice is more power for the kit I think, good excuse eh? Now, where did I store that VW VR6 engine @ 170 BP in standard trim and 220 with not much effort??

I've been trying to add another car to my garage on here and I kept getting an error message so I thought it wasn't loading, now I have 3 new vehicles in my "garage", how do I remove the duplicates. It may be blindingly obvious but I'm missing it!

Speeding, such an emotive subject! When I didn't pay for my petrol I would suggest that my average speed on my 80 mile commute to work on motorways and dual carriageways was in excess of 60 mph and my top speed was often illegal. I liked driving fast and would often be annoyed when people got in my way. I'd like to think I was observant and drove to the conditions and the cars ability........until I did the IAM course and discovered I had a lot to learn! What prompted the IAM course (a very nice present from my wife!)? 3 speeding tickets in five years, 2 of which were in quick succession, always less than 10 mph over the limit, 50 mph being the lowest limit, I have NEVER intentionally nor to my knowledge gone over the limit in a 30 or 40 zone. The course taught me a lot about many factors including other people who are driving lawfully within the limits who have to deal with people who are speeding, observation skills (why didn't I see the copper with the speed camera twice?), road position, correct gears etc. The result at the end of the course? In normal road conditions with any sort of traffic show the time advantage between speeding and not speeding is negligible (less than 5 minutes advantage for my 1.5 hour journey), far more respect for the correct gear, huge mpg improvement and never going to get a speeding ticket, far more likely to avoid some idiot from involving me in a crash and a happier family who now regard my driving as smooth and safe, no longer uncomfortable and scary. Going round corners quickly, accelerating to the limit, overtaking quickly is all still allowed and done frequently in my 2B and M3. What annoys me now (apart from the usual poor drivers who no nothing about lane discipline and indicators) is people speeding, especially on dual carriage ways, who stop you from changing lanes to overtake slower moving traffic or get annoyed with you because you have pulled out and are doing 70 as you overtake a line of lorries! Note, I normally sit at 65 (much more mpg!) and I actually accelerate to 70 while I'm overtaking if there is traffic behind me! People must realise that they are not the only cars on the road and must think about what their often selfish actions mean for the rest of us.

Get the codes read to see what errors are logged. Those engines are, IIRC the one developed in conjunction with Rover, and when new were excellent but are now showing problems with the "Valvetronic" systems and timing chains which stretch and can jump a tooth! The error codes are very comprehensive and can be tricky to diagnose correctly but it useless speculating without getting them read. You don't need a warning light on to get loads of logged codes! HTH

They do sell the fibreglass panel that you cut up to give you the two sides to the boot cover but you still need to make a cover for the middle. It does sort of fit but you have to very careful to get a good fit.

Assuming the shims are for both camber and toe then the thick parts go at the top (as Bob suggests) for camber as the swinging arm is sitting higher than it does in a Sierra and at the front for toe for the same reason.

Just because the master cylinder isn't leaking doesn't mean it's working properly. I had to replace mine a month before the IVA test and there were no obvious leaks, it just wouldn't bleed properly, a £10 second hand one from my local garage who banger race sierras and the problem was resolved!

Tried it several different ways to link the pictures, normally I just use the "Get links" option within photobucket and paste them in but that didn't work so I tried use the image links, nada, hyper links, nada!??

I tried to post a couple of new topics recently with links to pictures from photobucket and when I finally come to post it I get a 404 error, access denied, you don't have permission etc. is thrown back at me. Any ideas anyone?

Lift and hydraulic fluid just hit £1100! I was lucky in that a good friend was buying one at the same time so he paid for the trailer hire and fuel!

I spent most of the day tidying, moving boxes to the shed with a view to getting my latest tool in place. One portable hydraulic scissor car lift. Finally got it in but moving it around on my rough concrete yard is "fun". I need to look at a better way as I want to able to move it in and out of the garage easily. It goes more than high enough in my garage and if I was to lift my kit car to the top of the travel I'll have to take the screen off! You use the power unit to lift and move the whole thing around. Although it sits very low when down...... ......I had to put my 2B on to the wheel dollies to get it over the lift. I feel some 4 by 8 planks of wood are required. It should go under our daily drives easily enough but the kit has very little clearance! The lift speed is more than adequate, best dosh I've spent in ages!

Do you think it's worth putting up a build thread in the new section for cars that are done? Will anyone benefit from a 2B thread?
