  1. Sitting in the drivers seat trying to tighten up the steering cowl. Lost the screwdriver as usual. Thought it must have gone under the seat so I pushed myself back to look underneath and heard the ripping of vinyl as the screwdriver in my back pocket slashed the seat.
  2. Well i would click on the photo icon so you can see the picture.
  3. Got sent this very interesting email today Speed Cameras Thought you might be interested to know that, following the UK Government's freedom of information act, you can now get access to ALL speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months. Did you know that every time your car goes past a speed camera, even 1 mph over the set limit, it is registered onto a database? You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or (this is the bit I didn't know), if you receive over 10 near misses, you will be classed as a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you go just over the limit. This is why you hear of people being done at 34 mph in a 30 mph limit area, whilst others doing 39 do not. You can check what has been registered against your vehicle at the following web address: http://www.i-database.co.uk You will be asked for a password but just click on the need a Password link and you will be given one for future use. Or just enter your car registration. If there is any data on your vehicle, click on the camera window to see a copy of the photograph. Hope this is useful.

I managed to get a prime location, what about you guys Phil and Derek? (he he) Massive massive turn out though. Was talking to a hoody who had just been to Peterborough for a rolling road session. Im thinking this is his car. Interesting cooling in the nose cone.

    Aluminium Weld/solder

I have the chaps email address somewhere, not sure if he has a website. I got some off him at a different show and I havnt used it as such apart from doing a test piece at home. It worked but wasnt as easy or as strong as when he did it. I imagine it would get better with experience but its bloody expensive stuff to keep wasting. Andi
  9. Wouldnt have thought this was really my bag, but did anyone try the Dakar experience? I chose only to try the short £4.00 route. Jeez, if I lived in a more accessible country I would be seriously considering one of these motors. I cannot believe what terrain these cars/trucks can negotiate
  10. Most ramps for the back end are ok.. Caution for the front though
  11. Thats kit cars for you ! Yes they do have their own mind. Maybe a year ago now I tightened up my alternator belt and found that the bolt on the bottom right hand side had come loose. This was due to the thread being worn. A few miles later and it dropped out and I panicked. Its still out now and I have never got round to fixing it. So its only bolted on by one bolt and the tensioner bolt. Asking for trouble im sure, but no probs whatsoever. Must get a helicoil kit. Andi

    Dartford Crossing

But they are there for our safety dont you know? In 1967 there were 199 casualties per 100 million vehicle kilometres. By 2007 this had declined to 48 per 100 million vehicle kilometres. The UK has a good record for road safety compared with most other EU countries. In 2006 it had one of the lowest road death rates in the EU, at 5.4 per 100,000 population. The UK rate was also lower than the rates for other industrialised nations such as the United States (14.3 per 100,000 population), Australia (7.8 per 100,000 population) and Japan (5.7 per 100,000 population). More people, more cars than 67, but we still need these cameras ???? http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=1208

    Night Driving

Just got back from an exhilarating sundown/night drive. Work was cr++p from start to finish today and I left taking the world on my shoulders. Got home and finally made the bonnet close a bit better then made an excuse to get some bread and off I went for 30 miles down country lanes. Id forgotten how good it was on a warm evening, no traffic about, sunsets, marshland and pine forest smells and not forgetting the bakery just outside of town and the rare feeling of driving freedom. To anyone skinning knuckles on their build and wondering if its worth it.......... It really is Oh yeah remembered the bread at the last minute.
  18. Ah well! Cant win em all. He` s only human and there`s good ones, grumpy ones, ones who would rather be somewhere else on a lovely Sunday afternoon and maybe some with piles. At least you didnt get a ticket or lose your cool and you drove away with your dignity.

    Rear Lamp

It really is electrickery, I got to the fuse box and removed each one in turn and cleaned the spades(as nothing seems to coincide with the sierra fuse box panel diagram) I found one fuse knocked out the front o/s light, but none of them knocked off the n/s light.s. I took the fuse panel out of the box and got scared by the masses of evil wires but they all seemed fixed in well. Went back to the n/s working bulb and found it is a dual filament red bulb (even though it is driving light only , not brake) with electrical tape covering one contact, took the tape off as it was a bit shabby and re isolated it. Both rears now working fine. While i was at the fuse box I took out all of the relays to try and find the starter motor one ive always wanted to check (I take it there is one?) but she turned over with every one removed. I cant see it anywhere obvious in the engine bay. So now I am on the hunt for a fuse and a relay.

    Newark Show

i was working shifts last year and just about managed to get there with 3 hours to spare on the day I went. It was a bit smaller than some others but definately had its own atmosphere which was great. Just a shame the weather belted down there and back for me. Sat nav in cling film was order of the day

    Rear Lamp

Funny you should ask that Les, The only bulb working on that side is main "dazzle" beam, fronts are sealed units and there always seems to be a side light going after a few months. I hope it is that simple. Ta

    Rear Lamp

Hi all, Back offside lamp is out, Ive tested the bulb which is ok then put a voltmeter (something Im not familiar with) on the working bulb socket and got something like 10.80 volts and on the non working socket about 20 mv. Took the back wheel off to get to the plug in connectors to the harness, dont know what loom i have but the plug wires for that light appear to be brown and pink/white and there appears to be the same kind of reading coming from there too. Question is where do I go next? Ive looked at the wires going from the switch stalk and it seems that i may have to remove the bonnet, scuttle and dash to trace these. Also Haynes doesnt say a lot about the stalk wires or how to test them, and as for the Haynes wiring diagram.. oh please!!!! Its another language. Thanks Andi
  23. Hi Derek, there certainly was some good stuff there (including chilli and chicken curries cooking in 4ft frying pans). I just googled your signature Derek and was surprised to find a link to your RHOCAR profile.. Cool http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q...mp;aq=f&oq=
