Iam trying to tidy the garage & shed to have a bit more space to work in so Iam moving all spares to a small loft area above the garage. this is what I have - all from 2.0 DOHC, should they be covered in oil / WD40 / wrapped in oily paper / left dry ??? Engine (on a stand) will be stored in corner of garage Alloy cylinder head with cams / valves etc attached (oiled when rebuilt) water pump (new) alternator (new) brake calipers (used) complete rear brake drums (used) drive shafts (new) MT75 gearbox (used) Diff (used) front hubs (used) The wee loft is well ventilated Cheers Paul

  10. I fitted a bracket (circled in photo) between carbs & cam cover- it makes it solid with no movement even with hot engine
  11. working lates again so will be missing this week. my car will be back on road 1st april so hopefully get some decent weather for runouts

  14. . actually Graham I added an 8mm spacer to the pickup where it bolts to the block as the gap was 16mm !!!!
  15. finally got round to fitting a sump baffle I chose a simple hinged flap (made from gate hinge) as Snapperpaul suggested -seemed to work ok with water, wont be tested on road till april also adjusted the bottom of oil pickup to sump base gap to 8mm hopefully this will do the trick

  18. mine passed iva on bike carbs/megajolt without a cat. My engine is from early 1992 with a letter from ford as proof, so didnt need a cat. What year is your engine from? Is it using all original EFI bits?

  20. yes I did the same, just got refund cheque today. I was driving the car on 31st oct and it was sorned at 7pm on 31st, but dvla online automatically sorned from 1st oct. wonder what would happen if I was photo`ed speeding and they checked records and shows up as sorned would I be done for driving without tax???

  22. I tried the old tensioner 1st but pushed it too far in & it wouldnt release, 2nd attempt on new one worked no probs I didnt have any feelers to use so cut up a bean tin once you get the knack its quite easy to do cheers Paul
  23. update the original head was also cracked so had to hunt down replacement head. found one that been fully refurbed. this has now been fitted & started engine this morning & had short run out, everything seems spot on thanks to everyone for info & support especially Les Welsher who has given me loads of info. :good: might be able to change my name to Someknowledge now
  24. from the bible of haynes its firing order 1-3-4-2 ( no1 cylinder nearest timing cover distributor rotates clockwise HTH
