Those look to be the wheels that Robin Hood were selling as an option towards the end before R Stewart sold the company.
He must have got a masive job lot at knock down prices.
Probably a bit late but I got a full set of smiths guages from a triumph dolomite at a scrap yard for £25.
The speedo drive will connect to a smiths speedo with a little help.
This was 18 years ago so may not be many doners left in scrap yards.
My understanding is that cars are required to have very little.
Speedo, Main beam warning, Indicator warning, Highintensity rear light warning.
If it does not affect other road users then it is not needed and not tested.
I glued (araldite) a baffle round the pickup in my tank.
Roughed up the surface with 30 grit to let the glue bind.
Baffel is U shaped with the top pointing left and stopping approx 10mm from the left side of the tank.
Pickup (and guage sender) near left hand end, filler near right end.
Had sierra filler pipe into tank as designed by robin hood, filler stuck 2+inches into tank so the top 2+inches unuseable.
Drilled a couple of 12mm holes in the filler pipe just into the tank and now can fully fill.
Guage goes up and down a bit on long corners but I just ignore that.
My view on batteries is that cheep is always a disaster and last no longer than 1 day beyond guarante.
So look for a supplier that will still be here in 5 years and buy thier Mondeo 2L 5 year battery.
If you only run the car occasionaly look to using a battery maintainer charger.
RS had a lot of the early cars shorten the early 3 joint prop by removing the middle section.
The Sierra had donut behind the gearbox to UJ near center body mounted bearing ( kept the donut straight ) to UJ near the diff.
removing the center section gave a cheep way of shortening the prop the problem being that the donut now had to cope with more than 1 degree out of alignment and failed. Numerous coments in BOYS IN HOODS from the mid 90s about how loud the shaft was rattling round the tunnel when the donut gave out. I am not aware of any actually bursting out of the tunnel but many large dings.
Before buying check the width.
The mono cars had the transmission tunnel offset approx 1 inch to the left to give more room on the drivers side for the peddles.
Bigger bore master cylinder pushes out more fluid per inch of pedal depression.
More fluid pushes slave cylinder further disengaging clutch sooner.
So for early clutch release and a heaver pedal fit a larger bore master cylinder.
The thing that R Stewart (creator of Robin Hood) was that he understood that there was a good market for basement price kits.
Resale price is lower but you do not loose much.
I am not sure that he has a sucessor.
I would still like a GT40
If the bleed nipple is at the bottom then it is very hard to get all the air out.
You probably need to get the pistons all the way in to leave no room for air whilst bleeding.
Wedges can help drive the pistons back.
All we need is a couple of sealing quick release connections and it can be plumbed into the central heating.
Nice warm seat and a pre heated engine.
Absolute top of the line luxury.
Instead of fitting electric charging points all over the country we need to agiate for water heating points.
RHOCAR for PM
Do not forget that most electrical guages need a voltage regulator to keep the reading stable.
Ford guages run of a stabilised 8V supply, if you are running direct off the battery at 12 to 14 volts the reading will be high.
87 might be the age of the donor.
My 97 registered car shows as 83 on the V5.
At that time there was no standardisation in registering kit cars.
I am correctly registered and the build was finished before SVA or IVA was implemented.
Robin hood has no standard wireing.
But the headlights should be fused, I have 4 fuses so that one blowing does not leave me in darkness.
Check for blown fuses which could be under the dash or in the engine bay.
Alternator dying can cause this.
Current all over the place can be power on inrush to the electronics chargeing the internal capacitors and doing self check. It should settle to a few mA given time.
