    Goodwood Fos

Were given tickets for Thursday - very muddy. After a kit, all production cars look bland. Some of the older cars in the paddock were interesting though. -steve
  2. We had a flymo from the 80s that finally broke a couple of years ago - it was robust - had to be for wifey's use. Noisy in its final years, probaly because it was out of balance from mowing stones. -steve
  3. I have about 5-6cm clearance - but the lowest point is just behind the front wheels, so if the speed hump is gently sloping you can get over a hump greater than 5cm. I have grounded a few times. Made a skid plate from 3mm stainless clamped right up against the sump (and a bit of rubber matting between to stop noisy vibrations). Used fixing holes either side of the lower front of the engine and some extension brackets. Works a dream - country lanes with stones down the middle are the worst. -steve
  4. OK, I'm in for Saturday - is it just the two cars? -steve
  5. MOT booked for Tues 31st May - so barring any serious problems I (/we?) will be there. Just order some good weather. -steve
  6. Date? I know it was posted elsewhere - but I cannot find it now. My MOT runs out 13th June too. Depending on Date and MOT, at the moment, I'm a maybe - steve
  7. I would have also said: "Check the fuel tank vent hasn't got blocked somehow. Breathers can block." I started getting a similar problem last year - not as bad as yours - where mine coughed and spluttered after warming up. After warming up, vacuum in tank starved fuel to engine - was all ok again after resting. Cleared blockage - all good now. -steve
  8. I understood that a three-phase suppy was three supply voltages and (at the consumer end) neutral (neutral from star transformer, but not delta transformer). If you measure between any two of the three phases, you will get 415v. If you measure between one phase and neutral you will get 240v. Houses (single phase) are connected to one of the phases and neutral - your house may be on a different phase to your neighbour. E&OE, -steve
  9. No - just have your home number - PM it to me and I'll ring when we're in the car park. See you for sunday lunch. Cheers, steve + val
  10. Hi Bob, Are you going to have lunch at this place? We could probably arrive 12.30 - 1.00 ish and meet for a bite to eat (cafe is separate from museum so we'd miss out the museum as we did it last year). -steve
  11. From Maplin description: "For best use do not use for longer than 15 minutes in an hour"
  12. My SS runs at 175-195F (the ironies of a digital speedo: MPH+F or KMH+C). This translates to 80-90C, so this should be your target. -steve
  13. Thank you, will be coming in Val's tin-top Sunday - so no problems with a drink.
  14. Two please Bob - at least we shouldn't get attacked by the stars this time... -Steve (+val)

    We Buy Any Car

So, how long before WBAC doesn't have any customers because they've angered everyone?
  16. Photos in separate (chat) topic -steve

    Super Spec Bargain

I looked at the original posting and my personal opinion was that "80% complete" was optimistic. I wonder if the new owner looked at it and thought the same - hence the resale. -steve
  18. Useful site for MEMS 1.6 commands - could almost build a cable and plug into PC's serial interface (legacy interface) and use (e.g.) teraterm, typing in individual commands http://alum.wpi.edu/~colinb/mems_interface.html -steve (oops - repeating what's already been said)
  19. Two more: we're free that date -steve + val
  20. I had my super-spec IVAd at Southampton five years ago by Andy (Blakemore - I think) and I failed on side repeaters too. He said "a lot of caterhams have them on the front cycle wings" - so I purchased a pair of caterham items and added to front wings. My thought was: if that's what you want and that is what I need to pass IVA, then that's what you are going to get - even though someone may not be able to see from rear if front wheels aren't pointing straight. Passed with no problems. -steve
  21. Is this (20psi) part commonly/easily available? -steve

    Grandad Perks

Is that your entry for the Red-Bull soapbox race next year?
  23. Essentially this boils down to harassment - which they can be taken to court for. I'm surprised nobody hasn't already done this - I guess most people look on it as a waste of time. N.B. what happened to the old fashioned knock at the door - so they can walk round the house to see your TV?
  24. Marvellous - I'll have to try this. Did the rag not blow out as you sped along the road? When is your MOT due - as would be interested to see if it passes emissions test (as I have issues too)? -steve
