  1. The wire comes through the inline connection to the engine sub loom. There are two green wires from the coil one to the inline connector and the other to the electronic module. The green wire was missing in the doner loom (car side and fitted in engine loom) so I had to run an extra wire when changing to instruments with rev counter. The power to the rev counter should be internal from the inst pod, you shouldn't need extra wires. Jez
  2. I had to split a UJ to change form 4 to 5 speed output shaft. Its a simple job really. Remove circlips. Carefully drive the cross to one side and remove the needle roller bearing cap (these sit against the circlips) taking care not to loose any of the needles. Then drive it back the other way and you can then remove the other cap and separate. Refitting is reverse plus squirt some grease in. This is definately not a job to be done in the car as the caps are a tight fit. Jez

    S7 Hood Frame

No they are of an earlier car, not sure which but the hood that came with them fitted a mk1 (replaced hood so had a bar already). I now have a 2B and the bars with that are wider so I guess they will fit yours. Just to clarify these are robin hood parts and they are painted with primer so not rusty. Jez

    Oil Catch Tank

Basically, with twin 40s you wont have the engine breather attached to the inlet manifold so you loose positive venting of the crank case, these vapours are burnt in the engine. The catch tank is to let the gases out which build up in the engine and the oil to separate which stays in the tank not all over your engine. On the pinto (not sure about x-flow) there is valve in the engine breather which opens at a couple of psi, if this is not removed oil can weep out of the engine due to pressure build up, also you'll find the oil comes out of the filler all over the engine. The level indicator is there because you need to empty the fluid that accumulates in the tank. Hope this helps Jez

    Engine Hoist

Anyone know of an engine hoist looking for a new home, for a reasonable price as usual. Jez

    Front Suspension

The first thing I did on my Mk1 was to add additional top spring/shock mounts on to the rocking arms further out to reduce the ratio of the lever. I managed to move the mounting points about 3-4" and this made the suspension much better the suspension actually moved. I'm not sure if you would have space to do this though but I guess it would obvious. I kept the standard Spax with 180lb springs as supplied and antiroll bar. Talking of the antiroll bar another thing you can try is to replace it with tiebars have a search should be plenty of posts. Jez
  8. I've just trawled through 12 hours of 2Bplus video, the measurement given from top of screen back over rollbar to back panel is 61". Jez
  9. Matt, I had the same problem, I looked around at one of the shows to see who used the cortina ball joint on sierra hub. Guess what, its RS jigtec, they do exchange hubs with the Cortina taper about £30 each if I remember right. A lot easier than finding a machine shop to do it or finding the correct reamer. Jez
  10. Thanks got one, 89k lots of receipts fsh etc. Jez
  11. Does anyone know how much powder coting would cost for the main chassis and wishbones off a 2B. cheers Jez

    Doner Wanted

Anyone know of a 2litre injection sierra for sale, in the midlands prefered. Jez
  13. Richard, I have one, I'm in Coventry if your still interested. Jez
  14. Hi all, just thought I'd mention something I found which may apply to you all. Check the ball joint nuts in your dummy struts, I just found a loose one. I was careful to make sure all nuts where done up to the correct torques, but I guess what you don't see is easy to miss, and I may have assumed the assembled parts where torqued up correctly. Jez
  15. Just had my new insurance cert through, and they have requested a valuation from an independent and reputable source? plus six recent colour photos, not digital or polaroid. This is for the agreed value clause, I think if I have to go through all this I'll up the value. My problem is, who would have enough experience and be acceptable to the insurers to value a kit car. Also what happens without the agreed value clause on my insurance do I need it. Jez

    Suplex Springs

Are these the codes on the shocks, if they are they won't tell you the spring rates as any rate spring could be used depending on car. Try taking the springs off, I changed my springs and the new and old both had the rate written on top of the spring.
  17. I've lost my licence can't find it anywhere, how much is a replacement, do you get a photo licence now. Back to speed cameras they have officially gone to far, my wife got done. Jez
  18. Try a Capri same rad and will have a fan shroud that fits, if your using the viscous fan.
  19. Longboarder, your right I didn't fit an NRV it was one the fuel traps fitted in the original vacumn advance system I used it to act like a buffer and stop the dizzy pulsing. My system is exactly as per your photo and works fine, whether the vac advance works doesnt really matter I needed to plug the pipe anyway.
  20. I had a lot of trouble sealing mine firstly the 4 studs snapped off. But what the main issue was is the thin metal of the tank bends away under the sender and wont seal. I reinforced the hole with two rings of stainless one inside (fitted in two halves) and one on top the top fitted with a gasket. The two rings are held in place with 4 nuts and bolts where the studs broke off with the bolts protuding upwards so they can be used to secure the sender with a rubber gasket. I hope this clear enough I could add a picture. Jez
  21. Hi Chris, what model is your car, I have a mark one and am thinking about coil overs on the rear any chance of some pics or info on what they have done. thanks Jez
  22. Hello, I have basically the same setup, I'm using the Sierra fuel regulator as standard with return. I have connected the rear take off to the servo and the front to vacumn advance. With one port connected to the vacumn the dizzy rattled as the vacumn pulsed so I fitted one of the none returns that was on the Doner that solved the pulsing.
  23. I was told it makes a difference which way round you plum a mini heater but I can't remember which way it should be. Does the water pump takeoff go to top or bottom on the mini heater. Thanks Jez
  24. I've got 1.6 solid front disks and changed the rear end to 2 litre drums this gives a bit more braking to the rear which is good as weight distribution is fairly even. I have kept the servo and braking is pretty good. Jez

Are you sure the knackered gearbox hasn't just jammed your engine the input shaft does pass the clutch and sit in the crank, it could be out of line if the box is broke. Just a thought Jez
