    Dizzy

I have fitted twin dhla 40s and have the dizzy vac blanked off.It runs not bad at speed however slow running not so good. I've heard that blanking off the vac can be a hit or a miss.I have a non vac dizzy but the problem is it looks as if its three wire and the vac dizzy thats fitted on the car is two wire. What do i do.The dizzys are bosch early electronic. Richard

  8. Someing i've always wonderd. To get from a newbie builder to a wheelie good builder, does one have to show good mechanical experince in the topics they post or is it the number of topics they've posted Richard
  9. I forgot to say that i had bolted them straight to the floor. What i've done is raised the front and reduced some of the padding. It has lowerd me nearly 4 inches belive it or not. Richard
  10. I've just bought a pair of roadster 7 seats for my mk2.After fitting the drivers seat and climb in,i find i'm looking over the windscreen. I'm now moding the seats a bit.I bought the seats from gbs(kit parts direct)and think they improve the car no end My problem is i'm six foot three tall.Another problem is the seat manufacturers sizes never have the height of the bit you sit on in the spec. Just wondered if anyone has hade this problem before and also to tall guys and gals out there to think about this. Happy new year everybody Richard

    Sva

I have noticed the lightweight boys are having a few worrys about sva. Well,in 2004 i finished building a mk2 whitch was never designed to pass sva.During the build i kept in touch with my sva centre(bridge of don aberdeenshire)and they were very helpful about what i needed to do. With the result my passed second time with minor problems on the first ie: edges etc Goodluck Richard

I remember when i was a kid watching guys set them up with a piece hose in their ear, putting the other end down each barrel till they sounded the same. That was the last time i was involved with these carbs. Richard

  20. The first engine in my car was a 1.6.When i first went for a run it was slugish and slow.Turned out it was ignition timing, when corrected it made quite a difirence, not as much as a 2L though Richard
  21. Thanks Nigel, had to read your replay a couple of times to understand it.What is actually happening is the rods are moving up and down but not moving the pump levers.Am right in saying then that i will have to ajust nuts on the bottom of the rods.By the way the springs are there. Looking forward to your replay and ahappy new year. Richard

    Carbs

I am fitting a pair of dhla 40's to my RH,and i have some consern about the operation of the accelor pumps. When you operate the throttle lever there are conecting rods which go down to the pump levers. The rods move down the way,but in order to operate the pumps the pump levers have to move up the way, what actually happens is,the rods slide up and down through the holes that conect them to the pump levers
