  4. Err nope!!! it should have been picked up at its last PMI and VOSA or DVSA as they are now known get there hands on it someone will get there hand rapped. New side rail needed or a plate welded in with a reinforcement box on the inside to put the strength back in

  6. A think a mate of mine still has a set for sale - will check with him and get back to you if your interested
  7. I would go with a repair to, reinforce the back of the damage with some fibre glass matting, remove the rivets grind out the splits into a V then fill using something like Upol SMC carbon fibre filler (which wont shrink back over time like good old P40) then skim over with a fine stopper then prime and paint as normal
  8. I wouldn't try recutting splines back into the shaft, you could end up with a not perfect fitment and end up stripping the lot off and have no steering at all.. If you can't find a direct replacement then try to find a local engineering company that can make one up for you and cut the splines into a new shaft with the right tools or make a fully welded unit for you.

    Coil Pack

You sure you have spliced into the right wire on the crank sensor loom and not the wasted spark side and its sending a signal back to the coil pack. Had a customer last year with a short in the loom plug going to the crank sensor and it blow the side with the plug on it off the coil pack
  11. That has crossed my mind Al
  12. I use CBS for my electrical components whether its kit car related or not. Always a quick turn round from order to delivery
  13. Spent the other day trying to match a red on a bumper bar which turned into a hell of a job. What I needed was a sun gun which in layman terms is a very bright lamp that runs at full power at 3000 lux but at over £599 each and is a useful tool which we had at work when I worked in a bodyshop. I'm not going to rush out and get one anytime soon but I have heard of people in the trade make them out of an old cordless drill so thought I'd give it a go. One old cheap 14,5 V drill with a burnt out motor which was bought in a supermarket sale about 10 years ago for about a fiver, stripped of its inners. A quick mark up and rub down and a coat of primer, a bit of a custom paint job with any old base coat I had left over and a couple of coats of clear. A MR16 bulb holder soldered on to the wires that went on to the motor from the trigger and a 12v 40w bulb. Body of the drill reassembled making sure not to go mad and over tighten the screws around the bulb so not to crack it! plug the battery pack on and one working sun gun All in all a couple of hours work in between jobs and a cost of under a tenner A good old hoody build does what I need it to do and if I ever win the lottery I may get the proper one No I wont will just retire instead
  14. Try Lesley Storr Designs very helpful http://l-s-d.co.uk/
  15. Only ever apply a very thin skim so that it only holds the gasket in place while assembly is taking place . Never shove it on there like a ham fisted gorilla and it goes everywhere.
  16. I always use Loctite red RVT on gaskets I'm fitting, will seal valve covers, sumps, end seals, timing covers, water pumps and thermostat housings
