Have a few scratches on nose around where metal hood meets the nose. I believe these are GRP panels?, therefore I was thinking 400 grit wet & dry then 1200 to finish, then buff up. Does this sound right? as I dont want to make an error

It depends on how deep the scratches are I would start at 1200 then 2000. 1200 Thakes some buffing to remove the scratches you put into the panel. I hope this helps.
