Steering Column Shroud 2B

I am sure this has come up before but has anyone got a good solution to the Sierra flimsy steering column shroud. as fitted to my 2B. The previous owner had modified it in an attempt to fit it around the Sierra switches on the column but it is very poor fit and fouls the hazard switch which goes off by itself at regular intervals.

I know Simon used to do a reinforced version but I think it is no longer available.

Any ideas appreciated, thanks

Hi Pedro,

I used a shroud from an Escort I found in a scrap yard as I didn't have the original Sierra doner one.

The hazard switch lined up fine, but the key position needed cutting forward, plus a little fettling around the stalks.

I would not say it's flimsy, but I did add an extra bracket from the bottom up to the steering support plate to stop it moving around.

I'm not sure what you want, but I still have the mold available to produce the Sierra steering covers

which I create in GRP.

It's the one with the adjustable steering column. I blank off the bottom where the bonnet release catch is

and can make them solid (no holes for column switches) so you can cut the holes you need.

Let me know if you want a set made up. £30 for the top and bottom as a set. I can do in Black or Yellow.

Thanks,

Simon.
