I have a 2b with sliding pillars - the fitting of the front cycle wing to the sustension strut has broke...

The plate that fits under the plate has cracked , and on inspecting the other it appears that the plate under the suspension springs on the other side is craking directly under the springs.

Is this a common problem?? does anyone have a solution? or is there supposed to be some added support that i am missing?

I bought the car built - so am a little nieve.

Yes, i think that you will find this is a common problem on the earlier models, i think most people overcome this by welding some extra brackets to support them, and the later models were made more robust at factory.

I have this so i am going to keep a close eye on them.

Hi.

Try ringing Richard at Robin Hood.

They have repair/re-enforcing kits for these brackets.

They even repaired one of mine for me and sent me the kit for the other side, all free of charge.

Graham,

I bought a pair of cycle wing brakets from RS Jigtech. They attach in a slightly different way than the standard RHE one and look alot more substantial. The are specially made for the 2B try giving them a ring.

RS Jigtec Ltd

Not sure if they still produce them, but they are the chaps to talk to. The also produced the wish bone converstion for the 2B.
