:D Hi can any one give me advice on how to wire up the wipers to self-park.

The modified new unit is from GBS and is from a Ford.

At the moment I have 3 wires going to a 5 pin connector. The top is for fast wipe. the second down is slow wipe, the third down is earth but others I am not sure about. Richard at GBS says it needs a feed to self-park.

I have tried to add a feed to the other terminals put still no joy.

Wipers still will not park. Various combinations of wire conections tried, some shorting. Thanks for the help, but I am now thinking I may have damaged the switch mechanism at some point.

Any tests I can do to see if I have a fault?

Hi Tony

Still having problems parking wipers. Have spent many hours trying to get them to work using the four wires from the loom. Have blown many fuses. Even taken it apart to try to understand its workings.

Your attachment was helpful but I am still not sure which wire connects to which pin on the motor.

The four wires are;

Gray/red 1.5mm for fast wipe

Yellow/blue 1mm for slow wipe

Black for earth

Green, feed for park

I can get fast and slow wipers from the switch but still not clear how to add the feed without shorting.

Do you know from 1 to 5 the connection order? Have called in at Robin Hood works but they seem to lack the information I need. Even picked up another wiper unit to play with.

I think the simple switch to work the wipers is not up to the job as the feed needs to be earthed and switched in the correct order.

I would much appreciate any further help as I am determined to resolve this problem.

Thanks David

:D At last they work!

How to wire up Super Spec wipers so they will self park

Many hours and lots of blown fuses later.

This is the way my wipers are wired for fast and slow wipe and will self-park from both speeds. A simple switch on the column is used with an additional fused feed. No relay on this system.

There are four wires to the motor.

Wipers FAST- Gray/red wire connects to pin 1 at wipers

Wipers SLOW-Yellow/blue wire connects to pin 2 at wipers

Earth Black is screwed to the wiper chassis and not to the connector

Fused live feed Green wire connects to pin 4 at wipers

A wire from pin 5 is connected to the Yellow/blue wire at pin 2

Switch wipers on and they will fuse – Why? The parking disk in the motor has a contact at the park position that is connected to the chassis and pin 3. The parking feed will short at this point. The solution is to bend or remove the contact so that it will not short. Yes it works!
