Dolomite Sprint S7

I bought an S7 last year and am in the process of bringing up to scratch.

I have a couple of questions if any one has come across these.

The steering column passes through a piece of tube welded to the chassis just before the coupling. The column is slack fit in here and when on the road it bounces about inside creating a terrible ratle. Does anyone know what its for and if it doesn't do anything can I cut it off?

Has any-one ever done a remote for the gear leaver to bring it out from under the dash.

Many thanks

Al

Hello,

I can't help with the steering question......sorry.

If you have the five speed ford box (N or 9 type) then you can get an extension from westfield for a little over £80. I did this, easy to fit and makes a big difference :D it might sound alot for what it is but worth every penny.

If you have the ford 4 speed box (like on the MK2 Escort) then I belive tiger do one, the quality is no where near the standard of westfield.

Good luck.

Mark
