have taken off my exhaust to make it quieter and it seems as though the pipe goes straight through. it doesnt go into a box section at all the 'box' part of it just seems to be wrapped around this pipe.

what i want to know is what can i do to make it quieter? can i just shove a load of the exhaust wadding into the pipe section? wont it just get blown out the other end?

thanks for your help

ian

You need to cut open the box like make a big window in it and repack round the outside of the centre tube then devise a way if closing up the window again i.e. rivet a patch over it I think Big Jim's NW hoodies site has info on packing material

Ant.

I knew I'd seen it somewhere but to digress I’ve just looked up the 5 day forecast and it looks like you wont need that rather smart hood for the first part of the week at least. :p :p

ANT can you remember how much the wadding cost ? also did you really manage to seal the hole with a plate riveted on and not welded ??

thanks Steve

I followed Ant's method and pop riveted a patch over the cutout part and sealed it with exhaust sealer. That was over 1000mls ago and it still works fine.

Fred :p
