Locking Filler Cap

Ash,

When I looked into this when building mine it was more a case of how do I connect the cap to the tank and not which cap will fit the tank as just about any locking cap will do. Admittedly my tank is a plastic one etc but the principle is the same as it fits in the same spot.

Demon Tweeks do a good selection although they are pricey and if you have a decent "Max Power" shop near by they maybe able to a similar one cheaper. I can't find my Demon Tweeks catalogue at the mo, but mine is a 2" necked aero style one. Think it is about 80-90 quid from Demon Tweeks. If you have the hole already cut into the back panel for the Sierra filler neck then it will need enlarging. If you have the "daisy" hole that appeared on some of the later ones 2Bs/Sub Ks then you'll probably end up filling it/patching it.

I utilised the elbow that RHSC supplied with their cap (which I didn't fit) and some 2" fuel hose. Basically it connects Cap-Hose-Elbow-Hose-Tank and fastened up using some exhaust clamps. It is a bit heath robinson, but it doesn't leak and does the job. I believe you can get some flexi fuel hose which would be far better.

If you have access to some welding gear you'll be able to fab your own custom neck that'll fit perfectly.

Was looking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue last night and they now do a budget locking filler cap for about £40 - bargain!

As Andy said the only real mission is attaching it to the tank.

I spent close to £200 on a locking cap for my old escort cossie so its easy to go over budget, make sure you shop around.

Stu
