S6 Cortina Drum Brakes

Hi guys, I'm after some advise on my rear brake shoes. I've taken the back drums off and the self adjuster and hand brake arm are on the front face of the shoe. A friend of mine thinks they should be on the rear face of the shoe, if that makes sense.any advice or pics would be great.

The hand brake arm should be on the rear shoe (one nearest the rear of the car.

 

Picture show a Mk3 Cortina set up but not much changed on the Mk4/5

The arm is on the rear shoe as it should be,but a friend said I shouldn't be able to see the arm and self adjusters when you remove the drum. ????
