Gear Knobs

Hi Folks

I think I know the answer to this - but just to be sure. I've been looking at some neat replacement gear knobs. Do the SVA regs. on radii apply to the gear knob as I'm pretty sure a number of them would probably fail the SVA in relation to mounting screws. Could someone please confirm yay or nay.

TIA

Phil,

I imagine if the knob falls within "the specified area" it will be subjet to the usual internal projection tests that everywhere else is. I can't confirm for certain though. Might be best to fit the Sierra one then retro fit after.

I got a Sparco one (quite expensive though) which is round like a snooker ball in size made of machined aluminium etc looks nice and is smooth all over.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that things which aid grip on gear knobs/handbrake handles etc, are exempt (grooves etc), I think they're called 'operating surfaces'.

Chances are screw/bolt heads will fall under the usual criteria though.
