Replacing the pinto with a zetec will throw up lots of problems, such as spark and fuel, gearbox mounting cooling and sump. Theres quite a good artical in KITCAR may and june 2003 if that helps

Of course a Zetec is a perfect upgrade for the onld pinot, but dajimmy's right,

there are a lot of complications when employing Fuel injection and Direct Ignition.

this can be simplified be using an aftermarket EMS, this is also much better than the stock ecu and it is smaller and more compact, and it is very easy to wire up,

One of my favourite stand-alone managment systems is by DTAfast, their systems are brilliantly simple, they supply a pro version and a smaller reduced function road version.

www.dtafast.co.uk

there ems controls Fuel injection, direct ignition, launch control (!), traction control, and a huge number of other functions..

Its worth looking at and its not that expensive either, the pro P8PRO system is about £700, and the smaller E48 EXP is around £400, im not ure on exactpricing, but for a stand-alone ems its veryvery cheap, i know the MoTEC M4 is over £1000

look into it. :)

tak.
