Nut Stuck In My Sump

Hi Guys

I spoke with the NW Hoodies at St Helens and the Herts and Oxford guys at Stondon about the saga of the dropped M8 nut down the oil way into the sump. Well the question was whether or not you can get a RS2000 sump off without removing the engine on the 2B. My Fears were that the baffle around the pickup would prevent the sump coming off. Well last night at 11pm I decided to have a go and what a simple job it was I lifted the engine up about 2.5" undone the bolts and it almost fell off, removed the nut and refitted the sump, had a beer, a shower and was in bed before midnight.

Well Chuffed

I had a similar problem a couple of years back but I got myself one of those magnetic extending aerial type thingies from Halfords, fished around in the sump and was fortunate enough to lift it out. Bloody lucky!

I tried that but it was a A4 stainless nut not very magnetic and when I did take the sump off it had rolled right to the bottom below the baffle plate there is just enough room at the side of the pickup for a 8mm nut.

Cheers
