I have a built by someone else s3 and the hood has never been fitted, so its in its bag with sidescreens and two steel hoops, with no obvious place for them to go, how are the hoops supposed to be attached to the body ? and where do I position them. And what about the side screens ?

Please advise

Regards.

Bit tricky to explain, but here goes.

Lay the longer of the two hoops around the back of the car on top of the rear wing tops and across the back panel top section. (ends pointing to front of car)

The smaller one does the same just inside the big one. they may need tweaking to prevent them touching.

mark and drill at the ends of the smaller hoop for a bolt to go right through the inner and outer hoops. (smaller hoop should now pivot on bolt to make a cantilever affair)

There should also be two 'L' shaped brackets in the bag.

Position these at the forward ends of the Larger hoop going down and inwards onto the shelf like piece just inside the wing tops.again drill through bracket and large hoop for a pivot bolt. finally bolt the angles inside to the shelf.

Large hoop should now pivot upwards to near the roll bar and smaller one can pivot further forward to support centre of roof above heads.

Side screens.... Front edge of sidescreens MUST be positioned so that it is inside of the rear edge of the screen support. (put it on the outside and the weather gets in and you could blow the screens off at speed)

Hinges then fit to outside of screen supports and outside of sidescreens.

Hope this helps but best to get a look at one at a show as it is much easier to see.

Regards

Richard

If you've been given the weather gear with the car, the 4 hinges supplied for the sidescreens are very poor quality, and will fail on you very quickly. They are only made from thin ally. Get some new ones from Europa or other outlet and fit them from the start. If you fit the originals, then when they go knackered, the rivit holes don't line up with new hinges (I talk from experience!)
