Hi

 

Has any one got info on the Ford DOHC (Injection)

ie Power output, what carbs can one fit, is it a

viable engine change for a 2b (20 lt pinto at the moment)

Any info welcome

DOHC injeection engine when new = 115 bhp

DOHC carb engine when new = 105 bhp

 

You can get cams and a 4 into 1 exhaust for this car (RHE actually made them for a while) but inlet manifolds for high performance carbs are rare. Seems the tuning industry passed this engine by which is a shame because its got a good torque curve and is more economical than a Pinto.

 

Ask Les Welsher about how to shoehorn it into a 2B - he's done it already.

 

Most hoodies'll probably recommend you go for a Vauxhall engine like the 2.0l injection jobbie from an Astra GTE (how about 160bhp? Is that enough power, Sir?) and the NW Hoodies site has a pictorial record of Big Jim's upgrade, so you can see how it was done.
