Abs Brakes On A Dohc Sierra

I've just been offered a free Sierra with ABS. The brakes have sprung a leek and emptied there contence all over the floor but still work a bit.

 

I have to get it home and I was wonderng what the difference is between the ABS system and a normal system.

 

Does it use seperate systems for the front and rear?

 

Could I simply dissable the one that's broken and have the other work?

The ABS Valve unit supplies the fluid to all the wheels individually. Hence it can turn the brakes off on any corner it thinks is locking up until it thinks it has started rotating again. Can you find where it is leaking from? I wouldn't try and disable anythging, you might need the brakes on the way home.

I'll use the AA to get home rather than drive it. It's leaking from one of the rear wheels so it's probably a flexi hose.
