my friend has a r plate 106 1.4 auto and it is like the clutch is slipping , checked atf with engine cold and not running and showing full on dipstick, however according to the user manual it saye engine must be running and hot. did this and the oil was not showing on the dipstick

wanted to check with you guys before i put some fluid in via the dipstick tube

btw the car has only 40,000 miles on it

Sounds like it's low on fluid to check it do as it says get it hot, select drive (handbrake on) to warm it up quicker now add fluid (down the dipstick hole) still with engine running till it reaches the full (hot) mark. Drive it for a distance, about a mile is enough and check for level. Job done.
