I have bought a trike, based on a Yamaha XVS 650 Dragstar. I need to replace the oil seal on the Diff. The only ID marks that I can see are 22423 and 76202. I am assuming that it is from a small UK product. The brakes are drums and the PDC is 4 x 100 I have yet to disassemble the trike. Am hoping someone can ID the diff so that I can have the sea, ready for the strip down.

It's been a while since may last request for advice. My 2B has had it's MoT but had an advisory for excessive inner ball joint wear. Can anyone shed some light on where to obtain replacement drum sticks? The only post on the Forum did not reach a positive conclusion. Any advice would be gratefully received, many thanks in anticipation. Robbie

Hi all, Please can someone recommend me a set of compression tool for the front springs of a 2B. Have seen some recommendations for motorcycle specific ones but only ones i have managed to find have pretty poor reviews. Will something like this work? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Compressor-Suspension-20-100mm-Mechanics/dp/B0GK648PDL/ref=asc_df_B0GK648PDL?mcid=f74effa8fc203713a0b69f88da559376&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=798236021441&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14244127542208989789&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9223823&hvtargid=pla-2477152309873&psc=1&h…

Hi all. My Royale Sabre project uses the running gear from an early Ford Sierra, but is fitted with a Rover V8 engine. The engine doesn't have a pulley for a power steering pump, so have fabricated a mount tor the ford pump. I now need to plumb it into the rack. The original hoses aren't suitable, so I need to adapt the fittings at the rack end - they are a press fit type, held in place with a plate. Would something like the fittings in the picture work.....they are Ford ? Any other ideas ? https://ebay.us/m/iW17bj

Hi all. I'm currently building a Royale Sabre with a Rover V8 engine. Using this engine means the Ford brake servo won't fit, so I'm going to have to use a remote servo (or two) for the Sierra-based brakes..... discs all round. Anyone have specs or information as to which remote servo(s) would suit? I'm thinking of running two, as most of them are single line and/or designed for drum brakes. I assume the original master cylinder will send the correct bias to the front and rear circuits, so shouldn't need separate adjusters ? Any help appreciated. Cheers. Rob

I have a strange tinkle sound coming from the back end of the prop where the prop meets the diff. I have changed the uj and it made no difference. It only happens when I’m decelerating or when the prop isn’t under load. It’s running an mt75 gearbox and a 3.9 xr4i rear diff. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be it’s driving me insane.

Hi, Apologies for the first-post already needing help, and further apologies for not having an RH. My car is a home-built Ron Champion. (not built by me). I'm using the MT75 gearbox and am having real trouble with the car jumping out of second gear when changing down from 3rd (fine any other time). I'm an LCB member, and whilst there is a vast amount of information on that site there aren't that many people running MT75s. My many Google searches over the past few days keep bringing me back to historical posts on this site, so here I am. After lifting my tunnel cover last night I can see that the gear stick is fixed to a welded plate, whcih is then welded t…

Hey folks, I have a robin hood which was built based on a 1.6 sierra, but appears to be fitted with a 2.0 pinto from approx. 1980 with a 4-speed gearbox. On start-up the engine would struggle to turn over, and with plugs out would turn extremely slowly but turns over easy by hand. I've tried different batteries, a jump box, ran additional earths/positive leads to the starter with no improvement. I decided to buy a new starter (bought one for a 2.0 pinto), it fits well to bellhousing but does not seem to engage the flywheel properly and grinds against it. It is aftermarket but the pinion on both starters looks the same, with the same number of teeth. …

Advice please required. I've had the S7 for 18 months or so and until the compliance bushes shattered a couple of weeks ago, I never experienced bump steer. Since the bushes have been replaced, its obviously tightened the front suspension up, and now when travelling at over 65 or so, any bump on the road can shift the car in an unwanted direction. Its more noticable when in the wagon ruts in lane one on the motorways. So, as winter draws near, I have almost come the the conclusion that the anti roll bar needs replacing with tie bars. I know several pwoplw have this mod already done, but can anyone comment on the difference since doing the mod, i.e. before and after p…

Hi All, hoping someone can help, I have a leak on my sierra diff looks like it’s coming from the side screw seal rather than the drive shaft seal on the diff. Am I right in saying if I remove the side screw seal the backlash will all need setting back up again for the right tolerances? I am running an LSD. PS Diffs aren’t my strong area - if it does I am Derbyshire based does anyone know of any companies that can do it? Many thanks Alasdair

Chaps, is there a definitive/safe setting for a 2ltr pinto. I have done a few searches and realise that cam and fueling can alter a setting but just want something I can set it to while other bits and bobs get changed. It would seem that 6 degrees before tdc is ok for an unleaded engine, does this sound ok and what about further up the rev range?

Had to replace the brake MC it was rusted up solid the kit's not been used for a few years, not been able to purchase the exact same MC as they are no longer made, but assured the one I have bought is a suitable replacement. I bench bled the MC, with a couple of bleed nipples into the MC with it on the bench I was not able to push the cylinder in. Fitted it to the car & still with the bleeds in I'm not able to push the pedal it's solid, connected the back brakes & could not bleed them, pedal would go straight to the floor. I'm now at the point where I have disconnected the T where it splits to the rear brakes & put 2 bleed nipples in there, in my mind al…

I need a pair, or at least, an offside track rod end. My understanding is that the rack on my car is a Ford Escort, not Sierra - maybe they all were? Certainly the steering rack gaiters were ordered for an Escort and they matched and fitted. My existing tie road ends are sided - see photos of the o/side - the nearside is a mirror image. I ordered a pair of Quinton Hazel items for an Escort (or at least I thought I did as there were 2 in every picture!). Only one has arrived and clearly it intended to fit either side and doesn't look like to would my car any way. I Googled the number on the item, but didn't get any hits. Can anyone advise on a part number or sour…

Indicator switch changed and steering gaiters replaced, now ready for MOT - Yippee . . . . fingers now crossed! Although, there were no previous problems (e.g. steering, pulling either way or braking angled), and I have put the tie-rods back to their previously marked positions. I think that I should get the front wheel alignment checked. Does anyone know what the toe-in should be? I presume that I will need to tell them what I want the readings to be. The Sierra donor would be '2.0 mm (0.08 in) ± 1.0 mm (0.04 in) toe-in', but that would be a much heavier car. Visually there does look to be a toe-in, obviously that is unreliable and anyway I reserve judg…

Hi Guys, I have recently fitted a shortened sump to my pinto by means of jacking the front of the engine and taking the bolts that fasten the engine to the bellhousing out to squeeze it back in. However, now I have everything bolted back in and the engine starts fine, I can select all the gears but when I release the clutch pedal with the car in gear nothing happens. Any ideas on what the problem could be?? Thanks in advance for your replies Lee

Hi all, I have a reverse trike (2 front wheels, 1 back) with a hayabusa engine driving the rear wheel via a chain. I would love the ability to have a reverse gear so I can get in and out of my drive more easily. Anybody got any experience of this? I've seen there are special gearboxes but they seem to cost a fortune and people talk about a reverse starter motor but don't know how this works (I'm no engineer). I also thought about a trailer/caravan mover on a pivot so it would be on the ground when I want to go backwards and raised when I'm driving forwards but again, no idea how this works. Any suggestions and advice would be welcomed. Mik…

Hi, I’m not sure what make of steering rack I have, it would seem that I might need extensions as I’m already an inch of thread protruding each side and still no where near tacking parallel. is this normal for the later 2B
