My nearside brake caliper seized so decided to just replace it rather that service. Ordered left side/nearside caliper. It is marked clearly on it as " left". Compared it to the existing one and found that if I fitted it it would have the bleed nipple at the bottom. I've already ordered and fitted an offside one which has it at the top which works fine and matches the original. My theory was that on the Sierra donor the hubs were the other way round but that doesn't seem to be true. Can anyone explain this before I question the seller? S7 mk 2.

you are right the bleed nipple has to be at the top.

It looks like someone has been careless in the boxing department.

I would agree but the left side marking is on the casting. They are new remakes of the originals so maybe they are wrong. Quality seems very good though.

Is it possible to swap the bleed from the top to the bottom, had calipers before where that was possible.

No idea what a Sierra hub looks like, but logically if the NS were on OS & OS on NS, the the calipers instead of being on the front would be on the rear (or vica versa) & the steering arm unless detachable would also be on the wrong side for the rack,

Problem was solved by fitting the new offside one so no need to fiddle with bleed reposition. I have come to the conclusion that they are marked on the casting incorrectly. I'll let the supplier know. I may keep the spare for when the other needs replacement.

Just as an side once had a Fiat Coupe Turbo, put it on a diagnostic as it had an ABS fault, came up with Right Rear fitted a new sensor from Fiat still had the same light, put it back on the diagnostic still the same Right Rear, swapped the 2 sensors over (via wiring) & it went to Left Rear, it appears the diagnostic was taken from facing the car at the engine, Not sat in the drivers seat.

That did cross my mind. It could be that these are designed for lhd cars viewed from the front making nearside the wrong side.
