Hi all just started building a zero, brought a donor kit from gbs, i need to get drive shaft nuts off to remove stub/wheel bearing,questions are what size nut, are they handed ie nearside left hand thread (is that the long one or shorter one) is it possible if removed from vehicle,and any ideas how. Thanks all

Near side is L/H thread.

 

Like on commercial stuff, "tighten to the cab"

 

If the shafts are off the car, which as a doner kit they obviously are, your best bet is to waste the nut with an angry grinder, you will get new nuts with the bearing kit.

 

Just remember to tighten the nuts when car is stood on its own four feet, they need to be really tight :o :o

to undo ours we had to mount the whole shaft and hub in a BIG vice and then used a blow torch and WD40 with a 41mm nut with a large power bar and pulled for ages. Then realized that the nut turns the other way and it came off in a few seconds. (felt like a bit of an idiot after that one).
