Donor

Hi All, So I've had a dig around and not really found the answer I'm looking for so maybe you guys will know. I've got a donor car on a 02 plate tax band k, assuming I build my kit (that I don't have yet) with the correct amount of donor parts and it gets an age related plate I assume it keeps the donors tax band correct? If it were to be registered as Q what would happen to the tax? Thanks Stu

Hi I’m looking to start building a kit car I’ve never been massively mechanical so the whole thing will be fresh, I see people talk about donor cars do you always need a donor car, where is the best place to look at buying the kits, apologise for what may seem a stupid question but I’d appreciate any advice cheers. Two questions from me, will these fit my Zero and I notice these are for Drum brakes, I want disks at the rear also, do I need different shafts for disks or a conversion kit of some kind? Hi there ll. I'm a biker and light sports car fan by night, and bus driver by day 🙂 I always meant to build a Luego Viento with 2-litre BMW straight 6. I love sixes. Never made time to do it... I'm just looking at ideas, but the plan is to have one car that is inexpensive to buy 2nd hand, light and convert it to 4wd EV to cope with Cumbrian winter, with either 2 motors with 2 diffs, or 4 motors. Hi all, I’ve just recently joined the owners club and would appreciate some advice on sourcing an engine, gearbox, front hubs and rear axle for my build. I bought a new 2B kit way back in 2003/4 and after collecting it at the factory, driving back up to Scotland, unloading all the bits into my garage and buying a Ford Siera donor vehicle, for a variety of reasons it was never started. Hi, I have the chance of a complete mx5. What I would like to know is, will the engine and box fit into my 2b? Has anyone done this mod before? Any help will be appreciated.

I've tried a search but came up empty. Can someone kindly point me to a thread advising exactly what parts to keep from the MX5? I'm about t o get handy with the angle grinder and wondered if the alarm / immobiliser and ignition system wiring needs to come out intact to be fitted to the Zero?

Hi, Anyone got a Renault twingo (around 2015)? or know someone who has? I'm after the seat measurements as i think they look pretty smart and i need to replace my 30yr old sierra ones (they don't make things to last do they ) It's mostly the seat width i need to know. I don't mind removing plastic off the sides to get more space so if it's obvious there is a cm or 2 spare i could do with knowing that. I can probably mod any levers etc thanks

Hi Everyone I am about to embark on my first ever kit car build, I haven't purchased a kit car yet but do have a car to donate the engine out of but first I need to know if anyone of you have used a Volvo S60 2.0t engine in one of your cars before, or know if there are any kit cars that it will fit into if it will not fit as it's a running/mot'd car I will just sell as is. I've recently refurbished a 2003 Hoodie. I've got it driving well but my Bosch alternator probably from the Sierra donor is too close on no. 1 exhaust pipe. It's a Burton BV head and a competition exhaust, but should I brake a fan belt I couldn't get a new on as the alternator is almost leaning on the pipe. I'd have to remove the unit to get the belt on. Anyone know of a shorter alternator, preferably with the same size pully and bolt fixing points. I know I'd have to make a spacer or new mounting for the back end.

Hi all, I have the old style fuel tank hole one end welded studs the other, this seems a very makeshift system prone to leaking, I am going to have a pipe connection welded to the filler end but the info I need is what to do with the sender unit hole. Still use a Sierra sender unit or is there something more up to date to have welded/fitted on.

I was given a donor car about 10 years ago with no V5 and was so eager to strip the car and get on with the project I never registered it in my name. Now nearing completion I want to apply for an age related plate, which is the best way to do this?

Would anyone know what ohms the Sierra fuel sender unit operates at as looking at new gauges but don't want to drill the fuel tank to fit a new sender unit.

Hi I’ve got a query about registration on my robin hood, I am the 5th owner of my car, the car has kept the original Dona registration plate which is a 1984 car, what should show on the current registration ( log book,) would it be 1984 or the date of registration when built after Iva test obviously at a later date. Hi all, Let it suffice to say that I'm new here, have never built a car before, and am a complete novice, so some of what I'm asking my seem quite naive... but any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received. I've been reading-up on building a Haynes roadster, and am nearly ready to begin. The example in the book uses a Sierra as the donor, which was a far more accessible donor car when the book was first published, but now their increasing rarity is driving the price up - even for an utter shed. Another viable donor that others have turned to, is the MX5. These are of course far more commonplace, and a near-roadworthy example can be picked up for £500 …
