I have been looking around the island, and there seem to be no 2 litre carb'd cars around... There is a 1600 down the road which I can probably get reasonably cheap... It looks in fairly good nick and seems to run nicely! I know the brakes etc. are different, but are the diff and gearbox the same? If I was to go with a 1600 what would I need to purchase from the local scrappie to bring the brakes etc. upto 2 litre spec (I have the overhaul kit, can't get rid of it and am damned if I ain't gunna use it ). Would it be cheaper to also buy a 2l injection (about 150quid - but can't afford to insure one  ). I am not very good with the engine type bits, and do no…

OK, so I am still looking at donor options. I have been offered a granada very very cheaply (2 litre). It is aparently VGC, but the bodywork is shot. Will this be any use to me? Are the mechanics vastly different to the sierra, what can and can't I use! The spec of my kit is here. Any information would be greatly appreciated! I am not planning on using the engine anyway as I am using a 1600 for this. Many thanks (again!) Chris

Hello, I am in the latter stages of building an S7, and have hit a barrier. I need to find to what the drive shaft ratios are for a Sierra 2.0 OHC, so that I calibrate my speedo. I have looked in the manual with no luck, unfortunately I have no access to the original donor car where I am told this information will be avaliable. Can anyone help me with my dilema. Thanks, James..

Hi everybody, I have just placed an order (at stoneleigh) for a 2B. The only option they do now is pretty comprehensive, but I need some advice as to what I need from the donor! I would also appreciate details of companies that sell reconditioned engines and gearboxes (pinto 1.6 is what I really need!), and those that will recondition a unit for you, so that I can look at all the possible options. The spec of the kit is: - Project 2B comprehensive kit - 2B double wishbone suspension - Stainless steel chassis and panels option - Red, green or blue GRP, sable carpet - 40 litre fuel tank - Fuel sender - Enhancement pack > …

I know virtually nothing about sierra's , so I will probably ask questions that are fairly obvious to most of you! Are the parts (except the engine and the ancils) on the 2.0 DOHC sierra the same as on the normal 2.0? I have been told that a friend of a friend has one which he is breaking and I can prob have a load of prts off. Any advice on what parts I can and cannot use would be happily received!. Also, can I do a straight engine swap from a 1.6 to a 2.0? Many Thanks.

Can anyone offer any advice, Are all Sierra fuel filler pipes the same ? I have an Exmo and the two sierra fuel filler pipes i have do not seem to fit as far as i can see it is the angle of the bend which is causing the problem. Any other good solutions for the filler pipe ??? Thanks in advance

Hi all, I wont bore you all with the details (again) - however, Im having great difficulty in sourcing an engine, loom and ancillaries in central scotland. Im happy to get a full donor and strip for spares, but only really need the engine etc. I have phoned scrappies etc and been told that pinto engined sierras are like rockin' horse poo due to banger racing in the area. can anyone help - Im willing to travel and I have cash to spend. or - what are my other options - sierra - certain granada's, some transits??? any info very welcome as my build is stalled at the moment. cheers, John

hi guys - I have a bit of an urgent query - I am currently seeking another donor (previous one was cvh) engined. I have sourced a suitably priced mot failure but it is a G reg 2L injection - I know that it was f reg cars that switched to cvh - but when did 2l go dohc? am I wasting time going to view this one (the vendor didn't know his pinto from a punto!). any help much appreciated. John

I stripped my donor last year and painted everything nice and shiney. The problem is, now, I can't remember which are the front springs and which are the back, One set of springs is much lighter than the other and they are tapered at the top! err,,,,,,, bottom. My logic told me that the heavy springs came from the front of the Sierra as they had to support the weight of the engine. So I've fitted the light weight (rear) spring and boy is it bouncey. In comparison my wishbone front end is really firm. I know the rear dampers will slow the bounce but I'd like some reassurance that I've used the right springs before I go much further with the build.
