Is this going to be a normal fitting or does it mean problems??I'm aware of the Pinto cos I'm running a S7 CORTINA based RS 2l based car now Should I buy or say bye-bye,regards REX.L

Hi chaps, Some time ago I posted a question about using a Peugeot MI16 engine in my 2b and I was told I was on my own. Well now I’ve got an Mi16 engine sitting on my garage floor with a full wiring loom and ECU. I need to test the RHOCAR memory banks. The only bit that I’m missing is a gearbox! Quite an important element! After a lot of surfing searching for a suitable box I think I may have found the answer. Am I right that the ford sierra was fitted with a 2.3lt diesel that happened to be made by Peugeot? Is this block the same as the early MI16 Aluminum block? Might the two just slide together without the need for adaptor plates, head scratching or grinding…

I hope it's OK to do this, but I don't have a Robin Hood car, but your site seems to be the most active I can find with people using the Ford 2.0 DOHC engine... I'm trying to get data on the carb version of the above engine because (and this is going to sound insane!) I want to use it as a temporary engine in my vintage car (which I can't currently afford to rebuild the original engine of). I've "chosen" this engine because remarkably enough it "looks" very similar to the original and has a nice low speed peak torque rpm (2000rpm I believe). I wondered if any of you have used this engine in your Robin Hood and have pictures and dimensions (width, height, length etc)…

I am currently awaiting RHE to start selling and producing project 2B's again and have decided to buy and strip down a donor in the meantime. Would the modifications needed to a sierra estates rear suspension be easy enough to overcome or would i be as well getting a saloon, considering I can get an estate VERY cheap? Also does anyone know when RHE should start producing 2b's again? Cheers.

Hi, I am thinking of building another kit and was considering a 24V Cosworth Granada as part donor. Does anyone know if the rear diff / subframe is the same as the sierra? Cheers, Boggie

Hi, I've got to the stage in stripping my donor where I need to remove the petrol tank (which is currently half full) and all the associated pipes, carb, pump etc., and also the entire brake system. I have the Haynes manual and will follow the tips in there but wondered if any of you seasoned pros had any tips. Cheers nelly

Can anyone advise me if a 2Litre (Pinto) RS (1980's) has the same cylinder head inlet as a 2Litre Sierra (1990) EFI ? The reason I ask is that I am converting my EFI to a carb, and I have been offered a 32/36 Weber with manifold off a 'RS Pinto'.

What's the difference between the Granada and the Sierra? I know that the V6 manual uses a type9 gearbox with a longer input shaft but what about wheels, McP struts, de-dion tube, brakes ect. Are they the same?

Hi guys I have just started my build and am currently striping down the donor (G reg 2.0GL, 205 block, weber carb), I have the VG loom in my kit . My question to you guys is where do I cut the donor loom to remove the engine bay sub loom (type C ignition ?) Cheers Stephen.

Hi, can anyone confirm that the correct gearbox for a 2b needs to have the reverse next to 1st gear ??, i have beeen offered a G reg sierra 1.6 with only 50k miles on it by a friend and its only £100. Also, can anyone give me their views on whether or not a 1.6 is good/fast enough ? or should i just wait for a 2 litre with vented discs ?? Cheers !

I've decided I need a donor for the part built 2B I bought, as there were no documents for the original donor parts and I want to avoid getting a Q plate. Also some of my donor parts really are in a state, or are completely missing. Trouble is - there are loads of 2 litre Sierras but I don't know how to tell which are Pinto-engined from the age and model number. The reason I ask is that so few come up for sale in my area (Eastbourne) that I've resorted to duplicating a 'Can I buy your Sierra' message and leaving it on windscreens! Obviously I'd like to avoid wasting people's time by not targetting the wrong 2 litre cars. I know to avoid XR4x4 and injection mo…

Someone help me out with a translation table please! I got most of the information I require from an XRi website, but it doesn't list the axle ratio codes, tranasmission type codes, engine and capacity codes, or body colour codes. I am trying to establish the original condition the donor was in as this vehicle does not have the original engine and gearbox fitted and I need to calculate the final drive ratio for the speedometer calibration. the Ford Europe site seems to be down. I have estimated the ratio by measuring the wheel and turning it one revolution and measuring the distance travelled etc but would prefer a definitive value to work with!

Ok, I just went to have a look and see if I could match the engine number to that on the V5! Well, attached should be a picture showing where I am looking! Is this (the flat plate raised from the surface) the correct place? If so then I think I may be in for some fun as there doesn't appear to be much there! The engine apparently had a rebuild, but I am wondering whether they just swapped it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I have removed most of the trim off the sierra and everything else not necesary to keep it running (needs to be running this weekend!). What can I safely sell off of the car without looking back later and thinking "if only i'd kept that". I presume I can safely sell things like the bumpers, interior trim, seat belts, lights etc.? Basically I am seeing if I can recoup the cost of the car (£110 minus 3 months tax!). I am going to keep things like door seals, etc. as they appear (from other threads) to come in useful! Cheers, Chris Bailey

I've found an 2.0i Sierra that I was going to buy so I couuld upgrade my wheezy 1600. The only problem with the car seemed to be a marginally rough idle, the seller said it had stood for several moths, I suspected the tape around the throttle pot might have something to do with it, but anyway it drove fine and felt pokey. I got as far as checking numbers with the V5 and found the engine ones didn't match. I haven't bought it yet, how much of a problem is it? Will it cause problems when I come to telling the DVLA I've got a new engine (I've found on previous occasions getting sense from the DVLA is slightly harder than getting milk from a stone).

Well, I have finally found a sierra... I am now the proud owner of an E-reg (early '88) Sierra 2.0 GL. I paid the princely sum of £110 for this beast which has a set of alloys with 3 new tyres (receipt for £160 from a month ago!), half a tank of fuel, tax till september (time to get the rebate ). The engine was officially rebuilt 7000 miles ago, but it needs a bit of work on it. The car also has a full set of steelies with it, so I could flog the alloys as well! It also has a towball which I reckon I might be able to sell... By my reckoning I think I may be able to make some money on this car (although I haven't decided if I am going to flog the alloys yet). …

I previously understood that mini whipers were the norm to fit to a robin hood, since wathcing that build video - they recomend to cut up the old sierra whipers. - I have just bought a 2B and need to fit windscrean and whipers - and was after advice on what parts are best. Cheers Graham
