Took some parts to be sand blasted, included were rear hubs, gave specific instruction as to what i required. When i returned to collect they had shot blasted the inside and out of the hubs removing the nice shiney surface for the brake pads. Do i have to make a trip to the breakers or can they be easily saved Cheers :boohoo:

A customer I called on yesterday (17 May) has a J reg Sierra 2Ltr DOHC, says it runs well, seller drove it to him a couple of days ago. He is intending to break it and expects to get about £50 when he does. I have asked him to hold off for a few days in case anyone here wants it, same price - £50 and take it away.

Due to the loss of my wife and with me now being a single parent to two young boys I have to cancel my plans to build a 2B. It is coincidental that Robin Hood engineering no longer makes the 2B kit, but about a year ago I found and bought a 1.8 Pinto Sierra as a donor car. It was located in Pickering - North Yorkshire. I got a lift up there and drove the car home to just outside of Reading, Berkshire. It ran like a dream! Once I got it home, I put it in my garage and started to strip it. I did not get very far - removing the bonnet, battery and airfilter was all I did. I declared it off road with a SORN and it has sat in my garage since then. My wife …

I am stairing at the VIN plate from a 1982 gl hatch 20l. the diff id box says V which from another hoodies info says 3.38 ( i really don't want a diff that long with the plans i have) Is this a 3.38? Also the Transmision box says F and i really really hope its an N (5 speed) not a B ( 4 speed ) i dont have the gear lever so i did think of that first ( second hand kit blues). any help and links please. Also any idea what the other boxes mean?

I have just stripped a 1990 sierra glxi of anything that would be usefull for my kit as spares such as diff, calipers, engine sensors etc.. The car has a 2.0 dohc lump with MT75 box on the back. I have removed the gearbox from the car and it still has throttle cable hanging off it. I also have a tow bar with ball and electrics removed from the vehicle. It will fit either an estate ot a hatchbcak vehicle. Would anyone like to make me an offer on these bits or shall i just scrap them? I am just off junction 3 of the M2 in Kent, fairly near to Delting.

Anyone know why scrap merchants want £30 to take away a body shell after all the donor parts have been removed? I mean, they don't have to drain the fluids and dispose of them or the battery, the car isn't being scrapped in the eyes of the DVLA, so there's no paperwork. They're getting a bunch of metal and possibly some useable panels, so why do I have to pay? I've heard something about a disposal fee, but who collects that and why? Cheers, Peter

Hi Guys Just had a nice letter from Mr DVLA giving me a £40 fine . Their ecuse was I had not renewed the SORN on the donor. After Calling them they said "They sent out a reminder but if i didn't get they weren't resposible and i would have to pay the fine". So just a reminder to everyone with a SORN donor to renew it every year! Stephen.

Hi folks, Looks like I'll be going ahead with the build of a 2b soon. Has anyone used the drivetrain from a 4x4 Sierra? If so,what are the pitfalls of a 4wd RH 2b,if any? Is there room for the 2.8V6 motor? Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Ian

Hi guys Well started work on stripping the donor yesterday afternoon, yesterday we asked some of the North West Hoodies if they had an engine hoist we could borrow. We seem to have got a little carried away before we could read any of the replies.... now the request is not for a hoist but if anyone has a couple of surgical supports they don't need...... So the story so far; engine out, engine ancillaries off, gearbox out, prop shaft removed, steering out, fuel tank and sender off, tow bar removed, interior stripped, wiring loom removed and finally the front end has been taken off. Just a quick question - what parts of the front cross member/suspention …

Anyone in the North West looking for a donor vehicle try looking at this placeCar Transplants they have a few Granadas for around £100 so you might be lucky and get a Sierra. If you just want a different engine they probably have some. They deliver too. Peter

I'm looking for a donor vehicle for a 2B+ I understand that I need a Pinto engine and should be looking for a 2.0L EFi in Ghia or GLXi trim. It looks like the other Hoodz in the North West have snaffled them all for themselves. Can you use a 4x4 donor in 2wd form if so what problems does this present? and did any 4x4 variant have a injected Pinto engine. Cheers David
