....phew! thanks ibrooks that answers alot of my questions and a few i was just going to ask so just to make it clear in my head if i used the donor engine and all the other donor parts from the car i would get a age related plate and if i changed the engine after the sva the emissions would be for a 1990 sierra therefore i could fit a 1.8/2.0l zetec without a cat with no probs

 

also i have had a quick look at the diff and the only markings i can find are V/2 but it says U on the vin plate?

Hi we have had about 16 kit cars (not Hoods) so bow to greater knowledge of the above people re the RH marque but other than a visual emissions test for Q plates it has made no difference to prices paid, perceived value or driving pleasure! You can't see the plate when you are driving it;)

 

Re scrap shell from donor I would get it on a few of the RSOC sites - recently sold my daughter's 1989 escort on one of them to a Ford enthusiast rather than a dude trying to make a quick buck
