Went out this morning with Sat Nav to calibrate the new speedo, all went well and I have it pretty close. But on returning I have an oil leak from the rear gearbox output seal :( . I fitted this gearbox last September, and the car has hardly been run since then. I should have fitted a new seal, and wish now that I had, but I was moving house in the October and it was hurriedly put back together.

I'll see what its like on Wednesday when it gets a good run down to the club meet at Chester Moor. It's an engine and box out to fix, there is no way it can be done before Stoneleigh, so will have to decide if it's bad enough to ground the car until I can get it fixed or keep an eye on it and top up when required.

Had the car down to the north east meet last night, what a turn out, there must have been at least 15 cars consisting cars from the NE rhocar and the NE se7ens.

After checking the gearbox oil in the afternoon there was a niece puddle lying outside the church mouse after half an hour.

This morning when I checked it there was only a few drips on the garage floor, which leads me to believe there isn't much oil left in the gearbox. No way I could have driven the 200miles to Stoneleigh!! panic

After phoning around Opel manta specialists etc and not finding an oil seal, I put a plea out on the Opel manta forum for an output gearbox seal and a kind chap had one in Harrogate. So my son is flying down there now to collect it.

so should be fixed tomorrow.

I 've had a look and I think I'll be able to get the prop off from underneath and fit the seal
